Minutes from Meeting held 28th April 2015. CFA meeting rooms.

Saul introduced Leonie Palmer Fisher as possible event co ordinator, then round table introductions.

The Square Rigger “Lady Nelson” is hoped to be chartered for the 2 weekends. $1000 per day approx.. Funds to be recouped through selling tickets for events/cruises and passages both ways. School trips.Too small for dinners but possibly cocktails. Bird Family trust was suggested as possible funding for school age participants in crossings.

Michael Hobson has made contact with Wooden Boat festival operators in Geelong passed info to Historic Port Albert Wooden Boat Club.

Graeme Ireland has contacted Port Albert Yacht Club.They are happy to contact other Yacht clubs to be involved.

Seafarer’s monument. Kelvin McQueen has been contacted and is in the process of doing drawings and costings of alternate monuments. Preferred position is shipping point.

Racecourse Festivalstill in planning stage, yet to hear from operators. Self-contained and self funding.

Some discussion of race meeting but course is decommissioned.

John Coghill to follow up contact for woodchop.

Graeme Ireland suggested historic display in Hall.

Michael Glebov suggested map (maybe an app) culminating in arriving at the hall.

Film festival was suggested to link both weekends together.

Some discussion concerning the importance of Chinese heritage to the area. Michael has made contact with Alex Ho from Yarram Chinese restaurant . He has offered his help. Leonie and Kim have contacts in this area.

Saul has made contact with the Aboriginal learning centre in Yarram and they are keen to get involved at some level. Embracing the many cultures of the area could be a good facet of the celebrations.

Plans hinge on funding. Michael and Saul are meeting with Darren Chester on May 22. Meeting with David Morcom CEO Wellington Shire to be organised also. Michael and Saul have had initial encouraging meeting with Danny O’Brien MLA.

The purpose of tonights meeting was to give Leonie and overview of our intentions. Leonie’s response was very enthusiastic and she will do some preliminary outlines for us.
