Minutes from Huskies’ Athletic Booster Club Meeting-10-14-10

Welcome and Introductions/Reading and Approval ofthe Minutes

Message from AD

-We need wording for Concession Plaque recognizing Telos, Stanley Martin, and Best Buy. Nick Avdellas will work on this and email Derek shortly.

President

-Renewed call for a Marketing/Fundraising Chair

-Called on Annette Miller to discuss Spirit Nights

-Annette has contacted Green Turtle. They will host Spirit Night in Jan. and donate 15% of food sales to Boosters from 4-9. They will also donate 15% after any game night in exchange for an announcement during games and a plaque. Jersey Mike’s is making a 15 foot sub to use at the school and wants to host spirit nights. They will also donate 15% of sales. Message was left at Tropical Smoothie. Tenderjacks will host Spirit Nights from 4-8 on Mon. and Wed. with 15% donation. CA Tortilla will do Tuesdays from 4-9 and donate 20%.

-It was decided that we would hold one a week. Annette will work on a schedule for these. The first will be at Jersey Mike’s on Wed. of Homecoming Week.

-Called on Laurie Burke to discuss Winter Program. Deadline for ads will be Nov. 15. She is working on ads/pictures. Hope to have program ready for Dec. 7th

-Shared parent concern about lack of healthy alternatives at concession stand

-Discussed website. Consensus is that it is too late in the year to get going but would like to revisit in May-June to allow enough time to get it up and running for next year.

-Called on Red Molina to discuss possible purchase of air filtration system to use in locker rooms. Systems reduce smell and humidity. Briar Woods uses them. Cost is $3500 for three including shelves.

-Discussed car stickers for cars. Lynne got quote of $2 from Fast Signs in Winchester. Two week turnaround. She will contact School Pride for another quote. Suggestion made to ensure the Royal Blue is bright enough or to consider using White trim. Derek has the graphic vectorized. Lynne will follow up and order

Treasurer

-End of September Balance $13,831.20 however balance of now stands more near $28-29,000

-Sales Tax Exemption has been applied for-takes 90 days for processing

-Tax Return does need to be filed by November 15 because we earned money from the golf tournament

Fundraising-

-see Spirit Night information under President’s report

-Mr. O’Rourke suggested a 3-on-3 basketball tournament which created a lot of interest

-Discussed a Lift-a-thon

-Decided these should be held at the end of February in-between sports seasons

-Discussed the need to have winter athletes individually participate in some sort of fundraising (i.e. gift-wrap)

Executive Council Actions

-Voted to purchase one air filtration system for boy’s locker room at cost of approximately $1250

-Voted to purchase two racks of weights at cost of $13,800

-Veronica will maintain Membership List and email communication to members about upcoming events
