II. OPENING

Mr. Scott Bailey welcomed all to the meeting and thanked them for their attendance.

II. FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT COMPANY MONITORING FORM

The committee discussed the Food Service Management Companies Monitoring form that Mr. Bailey and Tam Edgar has reviewed. This is required twice a year. Most of the items were a yes but there were a few NA boxes checked.

III. MENU PLANNING

The committee commented on how the FSMC is providing excellent food with a variety of options. Some of their favorite items included the fusion food Cuban Hotdog, California Lasagna, and their were comments on how great the salad bar was. They also liked the Italian Dunkers and the fresh baked bread. The extra flavoring station was a hit, too. Terri asked the students about the beats they just had on the menu through the Farmers to Market item. They have also had sweatcorn and watermelon from this program. There are always tweaks that need to be made and it was appreciated that the FSMC was willing to listen to the SIAC Health Advisory Committee.

V. WELLNESS UPDATE

The subcommittee continued with discussion on what staff are doing to address the current Wellness Policy. The assessment of the plan from those in attendance was very positive. The district will develop an electronic instrument to further survey community stakeholders now that we have a new Food Service Management Company.

Mr. Mulder discussed how he has been talking about sugars and good snacking vs. not so good snacking, proper diet, CPR training and other health related items. Mrs. Goodwin discussed the Hoops for heart, body image speakers and the activities she is doing in the K-8 building. Mrs. Sitzmann also discussed the CPR along with guest speakers and the germ and health activities she is doing in the elementary.

Because of some changes to the Wellness Policy the District just approved last November, the committee went through the policy and are making some recommendations to the board for goals in the three areas required by the state in the Wellness Policy Review. (The Wellness Policy is attached).
