Back Ground
The Honourable Prime Minister during his visit toKarachi on 12thAugust, 2017 announced Rs.25 Billion Development Package for Karachi.Accordingly, Prime Minister's Office vide letter no 4020/M/SPM/2017 dated18th October, 2017 had issued a notification regarding approval for inclusion of different Development Schemes along with specific financial allocation. Moreover a provision of Rs. 8.00 billion for Karachi Package had been made in current Financial Year from funds allocated for :Special Federal Development Program” placed at S.No:841 of PSDP 2017-18
Further Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited (KIDCL), being a Federal Government Company, have been assigned with the responsibility to execute the infrastructure development projects in Karachi and the same falls within the mandate originally assigned to KIDCL through Memo and Articles of Association.
So far following Six(06) schemes have been approved by CDWP during meeting held on 15th January, 2018, 29th March, 2018 and 2nd May, 2018.

Pre-Bid Meeting held on 25th April, 2018 and Technical Bids opened on 4h May, 2018, which are under evaluation.
2. / Construction of Flyover at Sakhi Hassan, Five Star and KDA Roundabout along Sher Shah Suri Road / 2,386.00 / Technical Bids Evaluated & Financial Bids of qualified Contractors opened on 4th May, 2018. Work being awarded.
3. / (i) Reconstruction of Nishtar Road from Tin Hatti to Naiper Road, Karachi (6.4 km)
(ii) Reconstruction of Manghopir Road from Banaras Chowk to Nishtar Road, Karachi (6.9 km) / 1,900.00 / (i)NIT published on 10th May, 2018. Pre Bid Meeting would be held on 17th May, 2018 and Technical Bids would be opened on 28th May, 2018
(ii)NIT published on 27th April, 2018. Pre Bid Meeting held on 7th May, 2018 and Technical/ Financial proposal would be received on 16th May, 2018
4. / Establishment of 500 Bedded Teaching (Extendable up to 1000 Beds) Hospital and Medical & Dental College at University of Karachi / 8,400.00 / PC-I considered & cleared during CDWP meeting held on 29th March, 2018 with the remarks that the scheme would be placed for consideration / approval of ECNIC after clarification raised by CDWP Forum. A post CDWP meeting covered by the Member (SS), Planning Commission, Govt. of Pakistan on 19th April, 2018. The documents asked during this meeting are being collected /prepared for sending to Planning Commission.
5. / Rehabilitation / Up gradation of Existing Fire Fighting System of KMC, Karachi / 1,876.00 / Pre-Bid Meeting held on 3rd May, 2018 and Technical Bids would be opened on 10th May, 2018
6. / (i) Construction of Road Over Malir Bund from Dada Bhoy Town / Expressway up to Limits of PNSMehran
(ii) Construction of Road From Dumlotte Wells up to Link Road Adjacent to Education City, District Malir Karachi. / 499.81 / PC-I was considered & cleared by CDWP during meeting date 2ndMay, 2018.
Besides above PC-Is of the following One (01) scheme had been forwarded for Consideration and approval of CDWP Forum;

Consideration of Scheme by CDWP Forum, which is awaited
Further, the process to obtain Consultancy Services for “Planning, Designing and Construction supervision for Roads, Bridges, Underpass and related infrastructure” had been completed and Consortium of M/s AA Associates, M/s ECIL and M/S NAA have been assigned the works who are on board w.e.f. 26th March, 2018. Moreover the Requests for Proposals regarding Design & Supervision of 500 Bedded Teaching (Extendable up to 1000 Beds) Hospital and Medical & Dental College at University of Karachi received by KIDCL and same are under scrutiny.
All Codal / procedural formalities are being finalized and project implementation is expected to commence by 2ndweek of May 2018.
