Minutes for BC Meeting 2/19/15

1. Team Mead (rep by Siyu)

  • Putting on event march 7, sat, want to celebrate coming of spring
  • Have crafts and discussions of art at the mead
  • Need crafts supplies, all have to do w arts on display (currently Japanese art)
  • For last event, had record number of people (170) and all crafts disappeared quickly
  • Hao – policy of 50 for decorations
  • Manny – last time team mead requested were funded but wasn’t enough
  • Last time had enough for 80 people
  • This is a longer event
  • Richard – is team mead an rso?
  • Will be next year
  • Was one every year except last year
  • Hao – what are postcards and photography
  • Around the concept of framing since that’s one of the exhibits
  • Used to print photos
  • Need to make the craft, not purely a giveaway

2. Tango Club (rep by Sally)

  • Band honorarium is for spring malanga – will happen apr 18 in friedman room
  • Will receive dance lessons from pro instructors and w a live band
  • Sought cosponsorship for instructors from CAB and student instructors, hoping to get money from them (1k)
  • Already got 900, seeking for the remaining 900
  • Publicity for a different event (5 college event)
  • Motion to fund – 7,0,0

3. Hip Hop Club

  • Got 500 in honorarium from student activities for cypher league performance
  • Need student security
  • For police or student? For both student and police
  • BC - Never funded student security before. Can’t pay students
  • Manny – don’t pay the fees that the college require for security to be there. Campus police usually has a budget for that
  • Karen – pay for crowd manager
  • Hao – pay for student security for WAMH in the past
  • RJ – pay for police officers not student security usually
  • Have a remaining 250 in honorarium needed, 150 for 2 additional stage risers, also want to have a dj and alumni opening act for the event
  • DJ will dj for all acts, together w opener
  • In the powerhouse, march 7
  • Motion to zero security and fund rest – 7,0,0

4. Gender Justice Collective (rep by Gina)

  • Want to have dark matter come, workshop performance group
  • Will happen on mar 8th, will have performance and a workshop
  • WGC will also help fund, will have posters
  • Mom baby god had a very good turn up, so expecting similar
  • Manny – what do they do
  • Stanford grads that do slam poetry and workshop and queer diaspora
  • RJ – need break down of items to fund

5. Men’s Frisbee (rep by Tierney)

  • Need 3k for hotel rooms for Easterns and new England open and one in Saratoga conference and an additional tournament
  • Sending 16-30 people to each tournament
  • 130 per room
  • 4-5 rooms for 5 nights
  • Motion to fund – 8,0,0
