MINSTER BANK AWARDS $10,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

Minster Bank is committed to supporting the communities in which it serves. This year Minster Bank awarded $10,000 in scholarships. Kylie Bertch of New Knoxville High School, John Broering of Marion Local High School, Brian Eck of Sidney High School, Christie Klima of Wapakoneta High School, Jessica Scherer of Troy High School, A. J. Schmitmeyer of New Bremen High School, Zachary Schmitz of Sidney Lehman High School, Lynn Sherman of Minster High School, Katherine Smith of Troy Christian High School, Abbie Spencer of St. Marys Memorial High School each received a Minster Bank scholarship based upon their academics and pursuit of a business degree.

Kylie Bertsch plans to major in Business Economics at Wright State University. She is the daughter of Jim and Becky Bertsch. Kylie was Valedictorian, 4 year Honor Student, Student Council Member, National Honor Society, Pep Club, German Club, and Church Youth Group.

John Broering, son of Anthony and Lind Broering, is a Maria Stein native. Broering plans to major in Accounting at Tiffin University. He was involved in National Honor Society, Drama Club, Math and Science Club, Junior Scholars, Cross Country, Track, and C.Y.O. he also had perfect attendance two years.

Brian Eck will be majoring in Sports Management/Business. He is the son of Ronald Eck and Tracy Eck. Eck participated in Soccer, Club Soccer, Foreign Language Club, Nationa Honor Society, and a mission trip to Jamaica.

Christie Klima plans to attend The Ohio State University in Lima majoring in Accounting. She is the daughter of Paul Klima and Beth Klima. Klima participated in Symphonic Choir, Show Choir, French Club, Spanish Club, and was Student of the Month.

Jessica Scherer, daughter of Rob and Kristen Scherer, is from Troy. She plans to attend The Ohio State University majoring in International Business. Scherer was involved in Thespians, Pep Band, Key Club, Senior Leaders, Spanish Club, Quiz Team, Church Youth Group, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, and Teen Leadership Troy.

A.J. Schmitmeyer plans to major in Business at Wright State University-Lake Campus. He is the son of Gregg and Jenny Schmitmeyer. Schmitmeyer was a member of National Honor Society, Buckeye Boys State Delegate, Swim, Track and Field, Scholastic Team, Drama Club, Sow Choir, District III Honors Choir, Band, and Church Youth Group.

Zachary Schmitz, son of Mark and Jane Schmitz, is from Sidney. He will attend Ohio University with an Undecided major, and he desires to teach inner city youths and become a basketball coach. He participated in football, basketball, Ambassador, TEAMS – mentoring program, and Relay for Life.

Lynn Sherman of Minster is the daughter of Nick and Joan Sherman. She plans to major in Nursing at The University of Toledo. Sherman was involved in Cheerleading, Softball, Band, National Honor Society, Superintendant’s Student Advisory Committee, and C.Y.O. Basketball.

Katherine Smith plans to attend Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a major in Business. She is the daughter of Linda Gerber of Troy. Smith was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Cheerleader, Leader for Dreamers, and after-school gymnastics program for youth, and volunteered in community and service projects.

Abbie Spencer of St. Marys is the daughter of Richard and Susan Spencer. She plans to major in Marketing at University of Akron. Spencer was involved in National Honor Society, Deca, Student Council, Cheerleader, Swimmer, Diver, Award for working 1,000+ hours Senio year, and 14 year member of The Dance Centre.
