Conversion from Academic Casual to Sessional Fixed-term Employment(Interim)(HR/SFT)
INSTRUCTIONS
1Use this form to request conversion of an eligible casual academic staff member to a sessionalfixed-term appointment. A Request to Fill Vacancy form (HR/RFV) is not required. The duration of this appointment may be for not less than six months and will not exceed two years.
2Eligible casual academic staff members include persons who have been employed as a casual for at least one semester in each of the preceding two years.
3This form, accompanied by a Position Description (PD) and other documentation as specified on page 4, should be completed, authorised, and forwarded EITHER in hard copy to HRClient Services (HRCS) OR by email to . A minimum of tenworking days to process and issue the offer letter should be allowed.
NB: Start dates also require consideration of the receipt of acceptance documentation, and payroll timelines.

5Staff are reminded that:
- this form is a recommendation only which must be endorsed by the Associate Director, HRClient Services (or delegate) before a formal offer of employment can be made;
- there should also be no undertaking, or assurances given to the casual staff memberin respect of the conditions or terms of employment;
- the individualmay not commence the fixed-term appointment until such time as a formal offer of employment has been made and acceptedand all the associated paperwork has been finalised in HR Client Services.
