Spiritually

  • Devotion and prayer to precede every meal served
  • Development of an organized, regular Bible study program at a time separate from other functions at the Olive Branch
  • Make themselves available for prayer and counseling
  • essential todevelop a rapport and long term relationships with the friends
  • Clearly invite the friends to come to speak to them, discuss spiritual issues and pray
  • Sharing encouraging news and trials with the board to share both blessing and need for prayer
  • Long term - in depth discipleship program

Operationally

  • Doors of the branch must be open on the days designated from 11 :00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Supervision of physical building- minor repairs at their discretion

-major repairs approved by Board

-co-ordination of building cleanliness

  • Meal planning and supervision
  • Awareness and organization of all donated items to ensure that nothing will go to waste
  • Maintaining standards in food safety and cleanliness
  • Adequately monitors key control along with the Board
  • Awareness of weekend groups and all other activities taking place atthe Olive Branch
  • Board approval for any groups expressing an interest in using the Olive Branch facilities
  • Constant dialogue with the Board in regard to changes in rules, procedures etc.

-items to be brought to the head of the Board to decide what would require Board discussion and approval

  • Actively recruit, support, manage and encourage those who express an interest in helping and using their gifts to help with the ministry at the Olive Branch

Finances

  • Fiscally responsible attitude
  • Action plans to minimize waste and costs
  • Proactively seeks and initiates activities that provide visibility to God's work at the Olive Branch and share our dependence on financial gift-giving and donations to meet the ministry needs
  • All financial donations turned over immediately to the proper Board contact
  • Accurate record keeping and receipts for any personal funds requiring reimbursement
  • All major purchases or large uses of funds must be first presented to, and approved by, the Board
  • No funds of any kind can be committed by the director without Board approval

Community Relations Outreach

  • Establish relationships with Churches and other outreach ministries
  • Networking with similar ministries to establish rapport, build bridges, support one another, exchange ideas etc.
  • Inter-participation with these same organizations if possible
  • Provide time for speaking engagements and presentations to recruit new people who might have an interest in becoming involved in the ministry
  • all materials to be presented must be first approved by the Board
  • Communicate and contribute content for the quarterly newsletter and website
  • Maintain an awareness of additional services and programs available in the community that could meet the needs of our friends. For example: Out of the Cold programs, meals, free clothing, haircuts, church services, medical care etc.

Personal Characteristics

  • Must be a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ
  • To feel the Lord's calling to ministry and to this specific ministry
  • Must have a good, consistent testimony of living a separated,consecrated Christian life
  • Must have a healthy personal relationship with Christ demonstratedthrough prayer,Bible study, Church involvement etc.
  • Have a love for people and a desire to see people come to know andgrow in Christ
  • Letter of commendation from their Church leadership
  • A servant's heart in ministering to the "friends" in love, patience andcaring
  • Able to show practical Christian love to anyone who would walkthrough the doors at the Olive Branch
  • Past experience ministering to the needs of street people
  • addictions,homelessness, poverty, sex trade, physical & mental illness
  • Able to show firmness without belligerence or argumentative attitude
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and able to think quickly
  • Discerning spirit
  • Willing attitude and visionary thinker open to what the Lord has instore for them or the ministry
  • Organized, problem-solver, solution finder & able to delegate

Leadership Abilities

  • Firm hand but sensitive to delicate issues
  • Discernment in ability to separate the needs of the friends from simplewants
  • Ability to co-ordinate individuals or large groups with sensitivity andJOY
  • Able to identify gifts and abilities of our Friends and Volunteers andthen motivate and manage them accordingly
  • Past experience in leading Bible study or prayer group as well asleadership to a wide variety of ages and groups
  • Formal training in one or several aspects related to ministry at theBranch

Spiritual Characteristics

  • Have a clear and unambiguous understanding of the gospel message
  • Able to separate denominational specific teachings from core gospelmessage
  • Able to clearly articulate the message of salvation
  • Willingness and ability to disciple those with a desire to follow Christ
  • Spiritual strength to overcome the various trials of the ministry

Physical Characteristics

  • Of good overall physical health with no conditions that will impair thephysical work of the Branch from being done
