MINISTERIAL ADVSIORY COUNCIL FOR CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY, HUMAN SERVICES

The Hon. Kaye Darveniza MLC

(Chair) / Ms Darveniza is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier (Multicultural Affairs). She also chairs the Government’s Ministerial Advisory Committee on ESL, LOTE and Multicultural Education, and the new Ethnic Enterprise Advisory Council.
Paris Aristotle / Mr Aristotle is the Director of the Victorian Foundation for the Survivors of Torture, and recognised nationally and internationally for his leadership in this area. He has extensive experience across the health, housing and community services.
Pascale Allotey / Dr Allotey has extensive experience in the health sector, first as a nurse and subsequently in the academic sphere. Currently a Lecturer at the Key Centre for Women’s Health at the University of Melbourne, Dr Allotey’s research interests have focused on the health of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Carmen Calleya-Capp / Ms Calleya-Capp has extensive experience working with multicultural communities, particularly in the family and youth sectors. She has worked in both the community and government sector, and has served with distinction on the Maltese Community Council of Victoria.
Priscilla Clarke / Dr Clarke is the Director of the Free Kindergarten Association. She has been a pioneer in ensuring that pre-school services are responsive to the needs of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Dr Clarke is also a member of the Government’s Ministerial Advisory Committee on ESL, LOTE and Multicultural Education.
Evie Dichiera / Ms Dichiera is an office bearer of the recently formed Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council. She has extensive experience providing services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, particularly in family and children’s services and problem gambling services.
Elizabeth Dimitriadis / Ms Dimitriadis has wide-ranging experience in the community health and youth, disability, family and mental health sectors. She previously worked within Government but has been an independent consultant for many years, specialising in multicultural human services.
Nicholas Forsberg / Mr Forsberg is based in Mildura and is the Chief Executive Officer of the Sunraysia Ethnic Community Council, which services the north-west of Victoria. He has experience in virtually all aspects of the human services field, and is currently involved in coordinating refugee settlement support services for temporary visa holders released from detention by the Commonwealth.
Stephanie Lagos / Ms Lagos brings expertise in the needs of newly emerging communities, together with experience in the community, mental health and aged care sectors. She is the Director of the North East Region Migrant Resource Centre in Preston.
Giancarlo Martini-Piovano /

Mr Martini-Piovano is the Director of Co.As.It., the Italian Assistance Association. He has been involved in the planning and delivery of housing, aged care, family and community services, for one of Victoria’s largest immigrant communities, for many years.

Voula Messimeri-Kianidis / Ms Messimeri-Kianidis possesses experience in mental health, community services, women’s issues, aged care and family services. She is the Executive Director of the Australian Greek Welfare Society, a member of the Ethnic Community Council of Victoria, and a Board member of the Victorian Interpreting and Translation Service.
Son Nguyen / Mr Nguyen has been involved in the provision of human services for the Vietnamese community, particularly in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. He is welfare coordinator for the Jesuit Social Services and has undertaken community development work to address the needs of families, young people and the aged. He has also worked in the disability and housing sectors.
Jim Pasinis / Mr Pasinis currently manages the Banyule Community Health Centre. Prior to assuming this role, he has worked extensively with a range of communities to provide services to young people and the aged.
John Patsikatheodorou / Mr Patsikatheodorou has extensive experience in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, and is the long-serving Director of the Inner Western Region Migrant Resource Centre in Footscray. He brings a strong background in the community, disability services, housing and aged care sectors.
Joyce Rebeiro /

Ms Rebeiro has extensive experience working with carers from a range of culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Victoria, across all human services portfolios. She currently works for Carers Victoria.

Magda de Ridder Ziade / Ms de Ridder Ziade has worked with a range of communities, including newly arriving refugee groups, and is currently based in the Dandenong and Springvale areas. She has a record of commitment to working with the Lebanese and Arabic-speaking Communities.
Miriam Suss / Ms Suss is the new Executive Officer of the Ethnic Community Council of Victoria. She brings long-ranging experience in multicultural service delivery, and a distinguished record of achievement in Jewish community services.
John Zika / Mr Zika is a member of the Victorian Multicultural Commission, a member of the Police and Community Multicultural Advisory Committee and also of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria. He has particular experience in the multicultural children’s services field.
* The membership of the Ministerial Advisory Council for Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, Human Services has not been finalised, due to the late withdrawal of applications and delays in completing two appointments.
** Additional members may be appointed to the MACCALD throughout its two-year term to address needs that arise or perceived gaps.
