Mid-State Minutes

Officers present were: President- DeLaina Harris, Secretary – Suzann Harrington, Treasurer – Tonya Wallace, Point Keeper – Pam Worthen. Board members present were: LRC: Dara Duck, MRC: Wayne Neighbours, Rickey Meeks, SCRC: Brenda Smith, SRC: DL Worthen
Treasury report was given showing a balance of $10,597.99. With expected expenses for awards being approximately $6900 (year end, officer, highpoint, sportsmanship), 2013 printing cost of $350, scholarship payment $500, banquet cost $300, $879 in donations being held for the off season benefit show that was rained out in Aug., we have a forecasted balance of $1700. An estimate on the repair of the display board was not available at this time.
A motion was made, seconded & passed unanimously to accept the following nominees for 2013 officers: President – DeLaina Harris, V. Pres. Josh Stewart, Sec. – Suzann Harrington, Treasurer – Krista Lybrand, Point Keeper – Pam Worthen, Parliamentarian – Stanly Howard.
2013 show schedules were discussed. There were two proposed schedules presented. One schedule ran March 30 - July 27, the other ran April 6 - Aug. 3. A motion was made, seconded & passed unanimously to accept the schedule running April 6 - Aug. 3.
A motion was made, seconded & passed unanimously to schedule the off season benefit that was rained out in Aug. 2012 for March 23, 2013 with a rain date of March 30. If both of these dates are cancelled, then the show will be scheduled on the first available regular season rain date.
A motion was made, seconded & passed unanimously to have each club provide two items for the silent auction at the banquet. Members should provide desserts as done in past years. Doors open at 6 PM and cost of an adult ticket at the door will be $15. Tonya has received 70 pre-purchase banquet tickets of which 7 still owe for the tickets.
The year end award jackets from Artistic Threads in Bryant are expected to be ready by Oct. 26 as requested. DeLaina is going to take care of getting the sportsmanship awards. Cash will be given in lieu of writing checks for those receiving a cash award. A signed check was given to Dara Howard to pay for the jackets when she picks them up.
Discussion for 2013 T-shirts was brought up regarding ordering shirts sooner and submitting idea for designs. Any suggestions, artwork or even someone volunteering to take over the process of organizing, ordering and delivering the shirts is welcomed.
The 2013 scholarship is supposed to be decided in the fall of 2012 so we are already behind. Anyone wanting to submit an application should mail it to DeLaina Harris, P.O. Box 250, Sheridan AR 72150. The applications can be found on the web-site and I will include a copy with the minutes.
