Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum: Meeting Announcement

Topic: Megatrends and the Future

Date: February 18, 2016

Location: Towson University

Please join members of the Mid-Atlantic Forum and invited guests at this February 18th Forum.

Beyond technology trends and directions, Executives and CIOs must understand and plan for those global economic forces that will impact their customers, suppliers, and partners, and necessarily change how they might do business accordingly. No one can “predict” the future, but we must have a sense for the megatrends and global forces that are in play. In this Forum we will explore with some outside help and to the extent possible, what factors might drive future directions in the world, for countries, and for our businesses and organizations

To kick off our forum, Jim Lee, professional futurist and founder of Strategic Foresight Investments (StratFI), will help us look at the interaction between society and technology. Jim will share his insights on “megatrends” of the coming decade, so that we can consider how to ride the waves of innovation and social change. We will learn more about:

· Where to look for opportunities

· Why “trend blending” is a remarkable tool for finding even bigger trends

· When demographics indicate the next major expansion for the U.S. economy

· How to use trends in our roles, for our corporations, and in our own portfolio
