N.C. Gamma Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International honorary sorority for women educators, announce our Mary Perry Scholarship 2018.

The purpose of this scholarship is intended to encourage commitment to educational excellence, and to give financial assistance to teachers or those preparing to teach.

Please make copies and distribute applications to students who you believe may be interested and may quality for this $1,500 award.

We look forward to awarding this scholarship to an outstanding college bound student from Nash County who plans to major in the Education Field.

Application deadline is February 2nd, 2018.

Description: / $1,500 scholarship is awarded to one student for use in the education field (teacher, guidance counselor, school psychologist, media specialist, etc.) for use in any post-secondary venture.
Criteria: /
  • Applicant must be a former/college-bound Nash Rocky Mount Schools student.
  • Minimum 3.0 weighted GPA.
  • Student entering a community college or university in fall 2018, or astudent presently enrolled at Nash Community College in the education field.
  • Active involvement in local community service; Acceptable volunteer work includes helping children in schools, churches, advocacy groups, libraries, museums, part-time teaching or tutoring.

  • Completed scholarship application forms submitted to chairperson by deadline.
  • Official transcript from high school counselor office.
  • Two letters of recommendation:
  • (One academic and one community service reference)
  • Essay Topic – Describe what you plan to do and what position you hope to have upon completing your education, and explain how the Mary Perry Scholarship will help your meet your post-secondary goals.

  • Write an essay stating your post-secondary goals and describing your community service experiences in detail. The essay should also highlight your academic and extracurricular accomplishments. The essay should address how the scholarship will help you meet your post-secondary goals.
