Microsoft Virtual Academy platform contest for IT Professionals and Developers

OFFICIAL RULES

Common terms used in these rules:

These are the official rules that govern how the Microsoft promotion called “Join the tech elite v2” will operate. This promotion will be simply referred to as the “Contest” throughout the rest of these rules.

In these rules, “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to the applicable Microsoft entity listed in Section 13 below, the Organizer of the Contest. “You,” “yourself” refers to an eligible Contest entrant.

1. CONTEST DESCRIPTION:

This is a skill-based Contest and chance plays no part in the determination of the winner(s).

The Contest aims to provide participants access to a cloud-based learning experience focusing on Microsoft Technologies and products. The Contest rewards the participant that successfully passed as many Microsoft Virtual Academy courses as possible from the selected courses for the developers and IT professionals section and gained the most points in their respective country and respective section during the month of August 2013.

The Contest includes 2 sections: 1 for the IT professionals and 1 for the developers.

A)  IT PROFESSIONALS SECTION OF THE CONTEST

The IT Professionals dedicated MVA courses subject to this Contest are the following 59 courses in English and 32 courses Russian. Please note you can take the course in as many languages as you want, but for this contest they will be counted in only one language.

If any new courses will be launched in the course of the month of August 2013 under the above mentioned courses clusters (Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Visual Studio 2012) they will be automatically added into the competition courses list.

All eligible entrants will be judged using the criteria described below to determine winners.

2. WHAT ARE THE START AND END DATES?

The Contest commences at 12:01 AM on August 1st 2013 (CET) and ends at 11:59 PM on August 30th 2013(CET).

3. CAN YOU ENTER?

You are eligible to enter this Contest if you meet the following requirements:

You are a legal resident of the any of following countries Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and you are 18 years or older at the time of entry; and

§  You are NOT an employee of Microsoft Corporation or an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary; and

§  You are NOT involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Contest; and

§  You are NOT a governmental official; and

§  You are NOT an immediate family (parent, sibling, spouse, and child) or household member of a Microsoft employee, an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Contest.

This Contest is void outside the geographic area identified above and wherever else prohibited by law.

4. WHAT CONSTITUTES AN ELIGIBLE ENTRY?

To be eligible for judging an entry must meet the following content/technical requirements:

·  Sign in/Register for free on Microsoft Virtual Academy platform (MVA) with a Microsoft Live ID. There is no minimum level of technical expertise required. To access the MVA portal, click on: http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/Home.aspx

·  Learn and gain points by completing as many of the required IT professional focused Microsoft Virtual Academy courses as possible in the course of month of August 2013. The Microsoft Virtual Academy courses are accessible at the following address : http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/Studies/SearchResult.aspx

5. HOW WILL MY ENTRY BE POTENTIALLY USED?

Other than what is set forth below, we are not claiming any ownership rights to your entry. However, by submitting your entry, you:

·  are granting us an irrevocable, worldwide right and license, for the duration of the protection of the copyrights to: (i) reproduce, copy, modify or alter your entry with all known all later developed means; (ii) use, review, assess, test and otherwise analyze your entry and all its content in connection with this Contest and any future contests organized by Microsoft; and (iii) feature your entry and all its content in connection with the promotion of this Contest in all media (now known or later developed);

·  except where prohibited, hereby waive any and all so-called “moral rights” or any similar right that you may have or hereinafter acquire in the entry and all its content, and to the extent that you cannot, you hereby consent to us doing or omitting to do any act that would otherwise infringe such “moral rights” or any such similar rights;

·  agree to sign any necessary documentation that may be required for us and our designees to make use of the rights you granted above;

·  understand and acknowledge that that Microsoft and other entrants may have developed or commissioned materials similar or identical to your submission and you waive any claims you may have resulting from any similarities to your entry;

By entering this Contest, you agree that use of information in our representatives’ unaided memories in the development or deployment of our products or services does not create liability for us under this agreement or copyright or trade secret law;

·  understand that you will not receive any compensation or credit for use of your entry, other than what is described in these Official Rules.

Please note that following the end of this Contest your entry may be posted on a website selected by us for viewing by visitors to that website. We are not responsible for any unauthorized use of your entry by visitors to this website. While we reserve these rights, we are not obligated to use your entry for any purpose, even if it has been selected as a winning entry.

If you do not want to grant us these rights to your entry, please do not enter this Contest.

6. HOW DO YOU SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY?

To take part in the contest please:

2.  Do the self-assessment; collect as many points possible while completing as many of the required MVA courses during the contest time frame. If you are an IT professional, take part in the IT professional dedicated contest. As a developer, please take part in the developer contest.
