3:00 PM –5:00 PM Conference Committee planning and set-up

Dinner on your ownMHTA Board and Conference Planning committee will dine in the board room.

* 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Team Floral Design Workshop. Teams of two teachers will be given a vase of cut materials and a container. Your job will be to make a design to fit the conference theme “Winter Wonder Fest”. You may bring hard goods from home to use in the design. Friday January 16

*8:00 AM – 9:00 AM State Department Updates - Presenter: Dr. Randy Showerman MDLEG/MSU

Dr. Showerman will provide State Department updates as related to Careers and Tech Education along with FFA updates.

Integrating Math in Agriscience: Tammy Hyatt

Tammy will provide math curriculum to achieve the 12th grade math credit for your agriscience programs in several areas.

*9 AM – 10:30 AM Grafting Techniques with World Renown Grafter - Gary Gee, Gee Farms, Stockbridge, MI. Gary will demonstrate basic grafting techniques and explain the purpose of grafting in the Landscape Industry. Participants will practice hands-on grafting techniques and will take home several grafted plants. Bring your own knife.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Lunch

*1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Part 1 - Step by step Landscape design – Mary Kim Myers.

Part 2 - Landscape Computer Applications – Arlon Slagh, Don Fowler, Katie Wager.Participants will view demonstrations of several different computer aided landscape programs.

3:00 PM – 3:15PMBreak

*3:15 PM –4:15PMStep by Step Greenhouse Mum Production – Tammy Hyatt. Participants will prepare cuttings for mum production and learn the cultural techniques used in their production.

*4:15 PM – 5:15 PMStep by Step Poinsettia Production – Anna Blight and Don Fowler. Don and Anna will discuss the curriculum and hands-on techniques to grow poinsettias in your school greenhouse. Poinsettias are the perfect project for starting off the school year.

6:00 PM – 7:00 PMDinner

Saturday January 17th

*8:30 AM – 10:00 AM Using GoogleApps in the Classroom: Jennifer Woods. Go beyond the search engine! Learn how to use the multitudes of applications available through Google in the Classroom.

10:00 AM – 10:15 AM Break

*10:15 AM – 12:15 PMWeb Design 101 Using Microsoft Publisher: Megan Merrill. Participants will sit at a computer and learn hands-on how to create a website for FFA or their classroom.
