APTCR Presenter Requirements and Commitments:

Selected advanced placement teacher/facilitators will write, prepare, and deliver a 6-hour workshop for other Advanced Placement teachers who would like further guidance and assistance with delivering AP course content. This workshop will provide AP teachers with instruction in the areas of AP content scope/sequence and pacing, AP curriculum development, assessment techniques, AP data analysis, and College Board Curricular requirements. The workshop is intended to prepare AP teachers to be successful in the delivery of the AP curriculum.

·  On Friday, October 28, 2011, an Advanced Placement review workshop will be provided by the APTCR facilitators for the AP teachers to last for six (6) hours.

·  Participation is on a voluntary basis and participating teachers will receive eight (8) master plan points.

·  Teacher/facilitators must meet these minimum requirements:

o  Hold a valid professional teaching certificate, and

o  Documentation of 4 years successful teaching experience in the AP subject applying to present with an above average Advanced Placement passing rate as determined by the mean passing rate for individual subjects on the previous year’s AP Exam Administration.

·  Each facilitator must apply to serve as an APTCR facilitator and sign a letter of intent to be present and deliver the workshop on the scheduled date and time.

·  Following the completion of the APTCR workshop, compensation in the amount of $500 will be processed to the facilitators for preparation and planning of the AP course workshop for other AP teachers.

·  There will be no payment for partial completion of course requirements and/or preparation and planning of course; however, in the event of extreme extenuating circumstances, applicable M-DCPS administrators, in collaboration with representatives from United Teachers of Dade (UTD), will determine the prorated compensation amount to be paid based on the number of hours completed.

·  Request for duplication of workshop materials must be made at least 10 days in advance of the scheduled workshop date to the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Advanced Academic Programs.

As an APTCR workshop facilitator the goal is to present to other AP teachers in your workshop AP course content reviews, test-taking skills, and study strategies that will assist them in preparing for the May 2012 AP Examination. Write about two (2) Best Practices that are a regular part of your classroom instruction; Best Practices that you believe really make a difference in how a student prepares for the exam and approaches the learning of content and necessary skills to be successful. In your response, be specific about your strengths.
