Description of work & General method of works / Cleaning of outside walkway using an engine powered pressure washer

Dust or water ingresswill not have detrimental affect to any services, materials or finishes.
Plant & Equipment to be used / Diesel powered pressure washer
Mains water supply
Specific Precautions & requirements / Hi-viz vest, helmet, safety boots, ear defenders, goggles, gloves.
Client to make sure protection is in place to protect personnel / equipment from outside obstructions or hazards.
Working area to be free from other trades
Working area to be clear of any debris / trip hazards
Working area to be left clean and tidy after works completed
Accidents and Emergencies / First aid facilities to be provided by client as set out in site induction.
Report of accidents to client’s site manager or as per site induction instructions to management team by phone.

Supervisory Arrangements / Operatives receive 2 sets of worksheets, method statements, risk & COSHH (if required) assessments from the office. These are discussed between both parties. Operatives will sign when understood and leave a copy with the office. The second copy is taken to site to be given the site management.

METHOD STATEMENT JET WASHING
A / Induction & MethodInduction time taken ______hrs
A1) / Site induction must be carried out prior to any works being undertaken.
A2) / Read, sign and issue method statement & risk assessment and give to client.
A3) / Experienced competent operatives to carry out work.
Use only well maintained & current tested equipment as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
A4) / Once work has commenced any alterations to method statement must be highlighted and changed as required.
A5) / Agree with both main contractor and Company personnel before the works re-start.
B / Movement of plant & equipment to work area.
B1) / Companypersonnel will take our plant & equipment to the work place and movethis equipment to any other areas that require work to be carried out. They will ensure no carrying of heavy loads (no more than 25kg per man).
B2) / Routes to the work area need to be free of trip hazards etc.
B3) / A safe & secure area needs to be made available for placement of ancillary equipment i.e. generators, bowsers etc
C / Access
C1) / Client to supply clear access to work area at all times.
C2) / Access must also be left for the cables/hoses from any ancillary equipment being used.

D1) / Work to be clearly marked out by the client
D2) / Barriers and No Entry/Men at Work signs to be erected around work area
D3) / The pressure washer is connected to the water main by a hose pipe
D4) / The pressure washer is then started and the water mains switched on
D5) / The pressure washer lance is carefully pointed at the area to be washed approximately 300mm away from the surface.
The operator then activates the lance and continually moves in a sweeping motion until the desired affect has been achieved.
D6) / This is then continued until the job is complete
D7) / Once whole area is complete the equipment is removed and the area is cleaned and left to dry
