Post: DISABILITY YOUTH AND PLAY WORKER- SCHOOL HOLIDAYSUPPORT
Location:The Door, Hanover Street, Liverpool L1 3DY
Salary:£10.44- £11.59 per hour
Hours:28 hours per week over 11 weeks of the school holidays- a total of 308 hours annually
Contract:Fixed Term Funded to 31st August 2020
Responsible to: The Chief Executive through his/her designated Line Manager

Primary Purpose of the Role:
The post holder will supervise and support disabled children and young people through activities in a play setting during 11 weeks of the school holidays. The successful candidate will deliver creative ways to play which will enhance development and address physical and emotional needs.
Main Tasks
- To contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of sessions which utilise the medium of play with disabled children and young people aged 4-18 years, in a variety of play settings.
- To work with a range of disabled children and young people with learning/emotional/physical disabilities.
- To provide therapeutic ways in which disabled children and young people canparticipate in activities and learn through play.
- To work with individual disabled children and young people to address issues that may be preventing them from engaging in play.
- To participate in the development of a range of responses, to address the needs of children and young people.
- Complete timesheets, expenses claim forms and complete other administrative tasks as required.
- To work in partnership with co-workers to develop children and young people’s full potential.
- To share knowledge and expertise through briefings.
- To contribute to daily debriefs.
General:
- Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as and when required.
- To contribute to the development of the Annual Development Plan.
- Participate in relevant training and development identified in conjunction with Line Manager.
- To attend and participate in extended Team Meetings.
- To participate in regular Supervision Sessions.
- Promote in a positive way the work of the Association.
- To maintain the confidentiality of the service.
- Develop the Association’s commitment to Equal Opportunities and Non-Discriminatory Practices.
- To adhere to agreed Health & Safety and Security Procedures.
- Adhere to all the Association’s Policies and Procedures.
- Consult with ‘web masters’ to ensure that projects web page is updated where applicable

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

- Relevant qualification in a subject related to working with young people.
- Certificate in administering medication or relevant health care qualification
- Relevant training in working with young people, child protection, health & safety and first aid
- Experience working with disabled children and young people in a play setting
- Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating group work programmes
- Substantive experience of working with disabled children and young people aged 4-18 years
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to use play to build and maintain effective working relationships with disabled children and young people
- Ability to Deliver and evaluate inclusive group work/play work programme

- Ability to time manage effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, imparting and presenting accurate information
