EXPECTATIONS OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  1. Committee members shall abide by the by-laws of the organization.
  1. Committee members are expected to attend regular and special committee meetings.
  1. Committee members are expected to attend the annual meeting of the organization.
  1. New committee members are expected to attend an orientation session.
  1. Committee members are expected to participate actively on at least one committee.
  1. Committee members are expected to contribute to the financial stability of the organization; financial hardships will be considered on an individual basis.
  1. Committee members are expected to share their expertise with the organization.
  1. Committee members are expected to contribute at least six to eight hours per month in working for the organization.
  1. Committee members are expected to read all materials that are distributed and respond in a timely fashion.
  1. Committee members are expected to hold in confidence any information given to them in their capacity as a committee member.
  1. Committee members are expected to take initiative and to provide leadership as needed.
  1. Committee members are expected to declare any conflicts of interest and ask the minutes to so state.

Annual MHA Committee Member Commitment

Being one of people nationwide elected to represent the mental health community carries certain responsibilities and requirements. This document outlines some, but not all, of those responsibilities.

You were chosen, because you represent a segment of the mental health community and the general community at large. You have demonstrated the ability to bring your unique perspective and expertise to bear for our collective cause.

Together, we, the committee members of the Mental Health America, are here to assure the American public that the organization is fiscally sound; our efforts are striving for the greatest good; and that we are navigating the straightest path to the promotion of mental health and victory over mental illnesses.

MHA Committee Members are expected to:

Attend every committee meeting; members are required to attend 75% of committee meetings annually; one meeting per year must be attended in person.

Be an active participant in committee meeting and activities;

Be open to communications and requests;

Be an active participant in at least one committee, be receptive to committee communications; participate in conference calls and committee meetings and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner;

Bestow some type of cash donation to MHA annually;

Participate in and be encouraging of MHA fund-raising efforts

Participate in and be supportive of MHA events;

Participate in and be willing to help with MHA programs, services, policy and legislative efforts on a national as well as state and local basis;

Represent the MHA in your local area, concerning all aspects of the organization, but specifically, in the areas of advocacy, education, and affiliate relations;

 And, to bring the whole of your expertise, capabilities, and sphere of influence to bear for the MHA and its efforts to complete our mission.
