Accredited Workshop Introduction

Level 2 Bridge Inspection

This workshop has been aligned with a cluster of three accredited units contained within a nationally recognised Certificate IV qualification (RII40613). The units are:

§ RIICSG405D Carryout inspection of a civil structures

§ RIIIMG301D Maintain site records

§ RIIRIS301D Apply risk management processes

The workshop is suitable for both accredited and non-accredited registrations. The accredited participants will complete a formal assessment program after the workshop. On successful completion of the assignments, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment is received. Other participants attending the workshop receive a Certificate of Attendance with no requirement to provide evidence of competency; however the certificate is not nationally recognised or linked to a qualification.

During the workshop

Work through the exercises, listen to the facilitators and other participants and actively participate throughout the time in the class and during the field trips. Participation is important and completed exercises will be collected to provide evidence of your learning pathway.

1. Make sure the facilitator can see you are actively involved in the workshop

2. Complete all activities and if you are unsure ask the facilitator for help.

3. It is OK if you don’t get everything in class. You will have time to practice what you have learned back in your work environment.

4. Write your name at the top of any activity you complete and hand it in before you leave.

5. Sign the attendance sheet and Job Safety and Environmental Assessment (JSEA).

6. Your facilitator will review the work you hand in ensure you have gained the necessary concepts and principles and you will receive thorough feedback by email a few weeks later.

After the workshop

1. You will need to create a student account for our online learner management system (LMS). Do this by ‘signing up’ as a student at https://www.schoology.com/. Following the workshop you will be given a course code.

2. Assignments are self-paced but it is recommend that they are completed as soon as possible or within three months after the workshop.

Submitting completed work

For bridge inspections:

§ Send the first inspection Burrell, wait for feedback then submit the rest of the assignment.

For any other work (quizes etc):

§ Use your Schoology account.

Please Note: The ARRB accredited workshop and assessment standing alone may not authorise you to conduct Bridge Inspections in your organisations. Some organisations have internal training requirements usually associated with policy, procedures and industry best practice in addition to external training. Check with your supervisor, manager or human resources manager for your organisations requirements.
