Memorandum for Rifle Team Coaches

SUBJECT:2015 Rocky Mountain Regional CMP Cup Match and CMP Junior State Championship Match Program Entry Form

  1. Fountain Fort Carson High School JROTC Marksmanship program invites to you to compete in the Rocky Mountain Regional CMP Cup Match on 4-5 December2015. Competitors will receive initial relay information via email no later than 1December with the final relays being posted on the day of the competition.
  1. This match is also a Regional Qualifier for the 2015CMP Air Rifle Championship Match.CO State winners will qualify for the Regional Championships. The top sporter and precision team as well as the top individual (not on a qualifying team) will be invited. This invitation is only good for the winners; invitations will NOT be passed down. All other teams/ individuals may only qualify through the postal competition.
  1. Attached is the competition entry form, checklist and the match information sheet. Please complete the entry form and check the box for the event your shooters are participating in the name lines. It is very important that all information is completed to include age of each participant.
  1. Each program or club may enter as many teams as they want ineachcategory. Cost per individual is $12 for the CMP Cup Match and $6 for the CO CMP Championship Match, there is no additional cost for teams. There is no team fee for this match. Make all checks payable to Fountain Fort Carson High School JROTC. See attached entry form. Suspense for all entry forms is 20 November 2015.Entry fee includes cost of patches(for the first 120 participants) for this matches. EIC points are awarded for the overall event, not for both.

2015 Rocky Mountain Regional CMP Cup Match and CMP Junior State Championship Match Program

Who may compete:

a) Age Limits: Competitors who have reached their 18th birthday or are a graduate of high school, class of 2015 and those younger are eligible. Special Age Groups Categories are indicated in accordance with rule 3.4.3. A special age group will be established for competitors under the age of 12 for the CMP Cup Match.

Age Group 1 / Competitors who reach their 17th or 18th birthday in the calendar year of the competition or who are older than 18 and still meet the eligibility criteria for School Age competitors.
Age Group 2 / Competitors who reach their 15th or 16th birthday in the calendar year of the competition.
Age Group 3 / Competitors who will not reach their 15th birthday in the calendar year of the competition.
Special Age Group / Competitors who will not reach their 12th birthday in the calendar year of the competition.

b) Teams: A team is composed of four firing members (5 for the Junior Championships) who represent the same Junior Shooting Club. More than one team may represent a Junior Shooting Club; however, firing members can only participate on one team. Each team must be currently affiliated or enrolled with an organization that is a member of the National Three-Position Air Rifle Council: The American Legion, BSA-Venturing, CMP, Daisy/U. S. Jaycees Shooter Education Program, National 4-H Shooting Sports, United States Army Cadet Command (High School Division), USMC Training and Education Command and U. S. Navy Education and Training Command, etc... Please enter the team initial team breakdown on the registration form and confirm at the door on the day of the event.

Rules: The current National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Book, otherwise known as the Bluebook will govern the postal match. To download a copy of the rulebook, visit this website:

Categories of Air Rifle: Competitors may enter in either of two categories in the tournament based on the type of air rifle they wish to use, however, individuals cannot compete in both categories (see rule 3.3).

a) Precision Air Rifle Category: as described in the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rule 4.4.

b) Sporter Air Rifle Category: as described in National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rule 4.2. A Precision air rifle CAN NOT be modified in any way in order for it to comply as a Sporter Air Rifle. Air Rifles officially approved for Sporter Class air rifle competitions are the AirForce Air Guns Edge, Crossman CH2000 (CO2), Crossman CH2009 (CO2 or compressed air), Daisy M853/753/953/853CM (pneumatic), Daisy 888/887 (CO2), Daisy XSV40 Valiant (compressed air), Air Arms T200 and the Champions Choice T200, Daisy 887/888 rifles may have 2010 model replacement stocks.

Course of Fire: Precision Air Rifle Category: Air rifle 3x20 (National Standard Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing, and kneeling fired in this order. Ties will be broken using the National 3P Rule book.

Sporter Air Rifle Category: Air rifle 3x20 (National Standard Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing, and kneeling fired in this order. Ties will be broken using the process outlined in the National 3P Rule book.

Conduct of Match: As specified in the current National Standard Rules. 120 MINUTES - for three positions to include 5 minute sighting periods(standing/kneeling) for both sporter and precision class rifles. There will not be an extended sighting stage for this match.

Team Match: There is a four-member “paper”team match using scores from the individual competition. This is a co-ed team match.Team designation must be designatedon the registration form and confirmed upon arrival.

Finals: No finals are scheduled.

Assignment of Firing Lanes: Firing lanes will be assigned before the start of the match and posted in the hall adjacent to the range.

Targets: Competitors use official Orion targets for each class.

Clothing: All Participants will comply with the clothing guidelines specified in the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rulebook.

Scoring:Scoring will be completed using the Orion scoring software system. A scoring panel will complete scoring and display targets for review in the wrestling room adjacent to the range. Protests will be applied as per rule 9 and must be submitted within 10 minutes of the scores being posted.

CMP Cup Awards: Over 70 awards areavailable at this match.Number of awards are based on the number of participants as indicated in the tables below.

Team: Team champion trophy is a 27” four column trophy, all remaining team trophies are 24” two column trophies.

Colorado CMP Junior State Championship Awards:Colorado State winners will qualify for the Regional Championships. The top Colorado sporter and precision team as well as the top individual (not on a qualifying team) will be invited.This invitation is only good for the winners; invitations will NOT be passed down. All other teams/ individuals may only qualify through the postal competition.

Individual Championships: Individuals not receiving championship team medals will receive medallions for the sporter and precision categories. The top three individuals by age group of the sporter class will receive medals.

Results: Match results will be posted on our program web site at well as on the CMP competition results page located at Trophies, medals, certificates, and scored targets are presented upon completion of the match.

Other Information:

  • This match is also a CMP Regional Qualifier for the CMP Junior Air RifleChampionship Match in Salt Lake City, UT. The State’s team winners in Sporterand Precision, as well as the top individual, will qualify to participate in the CMP Regional Championships.
  • Anticipate up to 45 firing points. Each club/school/JROTC unit, etc..Entry will be on a space available, first come, first serve basis. Receipt of entry fees is required to validate entry.
  • CMP Individual ID #’s . This is a CMP Cup Match and Excellence in Competition (EIC) points may be earned for this match. Participants may qualify for national records when participating in this event. Participants ensure they have registered and received their respective number.
  • Be at the range a minimum of 30 minutes prior to relay time for check in to confirm team designation and receive targets.
  • Changing area will be available for the precision shooters. Changing is to be accomplished on-range to expedite change-over between relays.
  • CO2 and compressed air refills available for competitors. Competitors must provide their own adapters and pellets.
  • Coaches maybe used as safety officers during the match.
