Subject: NOMINATIONS FOR GOVERNOR’S AWARD

FOR EXCELLENCE IN PEACE OFFICER TRAINING

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2004 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Peace Officer Training. Each year, these prestigious awards recognize deserving individuals or organizations in three categories – Individual Achievement, Organizational Achievement, and Lifetime Achievement. Last year’s recipients were the following:

Recipient Category

• Sergeant Wayne Windman Individual Achievement

Redondo Beach Police Department

• Napa Valley Criminal Justice Organizational Achievement

Training Center

• Captain William Cavenaugh, Retired Lifetime Achievement

Laguna Beach Police Department

Award criteria include: 1) innovation, 2) impact, and 3) previous recognition. A more detailed description of these criteria, along with the nomination form, may be found on the POST website at http://www.post.ca.gov/governorsaward.
