Memorandum Concerning Topographical, Utility And

Building Site Conditions Survey

1.The architect has the responsibility to obtain full information concerning the physical conditions of the site. The Owner will pay the cost of the service required to obtain this information. The architect should select a surveyor who is registered in the State of Georgia to perform the necessary survey work; however, the architect must secure prior approval from the Regents' Office concerning the surveyor's fees and the extent of the survey before employing the surveyor.

2.The architect should select a competent professional and give them full instructions regarding information required. Do not instruct surveyor to furnish mechanical and electrical engineering data. This responsibility should be referred by the architect to the engineers.

3.The architect shall not solicit or accept information concerning conditions of the site, on which he/she will base his/her design from others than professionals selected, directed, and supervised by him/her.

4.On GSFIC projects, the architect should read Article 7, Subparagraph (b) and Article 73, Subparagraphs (a) and (b) of the GSFIC "Memorandum of Policy, (The Rainbow") concerning site condition information. (See certificate below for slight variation required on Regents' projects.)

5.The surveyor shall attach to each copy of the survey of topographical, utility and building site conditions survey, a copy (executed in the original by the surveyor) of the following certificate (on GSFIC projects, disregard the form of certificate specified in The Rainbow, Paragraph 7, Pages 13 and 13A):

I certify that this survey is correct; that it gives a true representation of the conditions on the property; that all buildings, improvements, and objects are shown to scale at actual locations on the property; and that it gives a complete delineation of the grades and lines of streets, pavements, and adjoining properties, contours of the site, and full information as to sewer, water, gas, electrical service, telephone lines, and other utilities. I certify further that I have examined maps filed pursuant to Georgia Laws 1969, pp. 50 et seq., as amended, and that all gas lines shown within the area surveyed are delineated on this and that copies of the aforesaid maps on which are delineated all gas lines within one thousand one hundred feet (1,100') of the center of the geographical area surveyed as of the date of my examination (insert date) are attached to this. I certify further that all electric power lines carrying in excess of 750 volts and located within the area surveyed are delineated on this, and that such lines which lie outside the area surveyed but within four hundred feet (400') of the center of the geographical area surveyed as of the date of this certificate are located by suitable notation on this ."
