2.1 This document highlights the new rules of FCC on TVWS released on Sept 23, 2010, FCC 10-174
2.2 Jesse Caulfield commented on the 4th point in slide 9, it was clarified that the word “communication” means transmission; the statement just means that fixed TVBD may transmit over these channels.
2.3 Gerald Chouinard commented on the slide 9 about channel 36 and 38. It was clarified that if these channels are occupied by the incumbent of TV station, the channel 35 and 39 would be used by wireless microphone. It would be useful for TVBD devices to sense these channels.
2.4 Sensing only device needs to sense channel 36, and 38, if there are occupied, wireless microphone may use 35, and 39. Even without sensing the channel 35, 39, the sensing only device shall avoid using them.
2.5 Ivan Reede questioned on the meaning of the statement in slide 13: antenna shall not be more than 30m, devices may not be installed at HAAT 76 meter. It was clarified that the antenna may not be more than 30 meters above the ground, and the ground may not be more than 76 meters above the HAAT.
2.6 Tuncer Baykas questioned on how to improve the location resolution in indoor operation in order to follow the FCC rule of 50m. It is indicated that it is the problem for all techniques.
2.7 Ivan Reede pointed out that in slide 22, it was mentioned that TVBDs shall incorporate security measures to ensure they are only capable of contacting database operated by FCC designated administrators. The word “only ” is questionable because we could not push the manufacture to create devices for outside US and have devices to access the FCC database. The device shall be able to contact the database of their own countries which is not operated by FCC.
