OUR CLUB

Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling & Croquet Club has been in continuous operation at the same location since 1912. We are fortunate to have two regulation size greens situated in one of the prettiest ravine settings in Toronto. Although the City of Toronto owns the facility, the club members administer and pay all operating expenses incurred by the club. Membership is open to anyone with a desire to lawn bowl or play croquet.

We have a full program of activity from May to October. Whether you are looking for new friends, light exercise, social or competitive sport, we offer it all. Join us and give it a try.

CROQUET

Croquet is a great game for all ages, offering a rare opportunity for men and women to play on equal terms with opponents, young or old. It is also a terrific activity for families.

Two types of croquet are played at our club: the first is golf-croquet, which is a great way to learn the basics of croquet without worrying about strategy and tactics. The second is the North American Six Wicket game of croquet using the rules of the United States Croquet Association (USCA).

You can enjoy the sport as a social activity within the club, and if you wish, visit other clubs for competition. You are not obligated to come on a regular basis, as there are no set teams and games are arranged with whomever is present.

New members are always welcome. If you do not know a member to introduce you, please call the membership contact listed on the brochure front. If you are a beginner, our friendly coaches provide free instruction to teach you the basics and explain the rules. All you need to start are flat, smooth-soled shoes (no heels) to protect the turf.

You will find that croquet is a very economical sport. The membership fees are reasonable and the club has complimentary mallets available for your use. Club membership includes a full individual membership in Croquet Canada. An attractive Affiliate Membership is also available to members of other croquet clubs.

LAWN BOWLING

Lawn bowling is a game whereby men and women of all ages can compete together on an equal basis, both competitively and recreationally. Physical strength plays a small part in the game; skill and strategy are the real factors.

You can enjoy the sport as a social activity. Many fun days and tournaments are planned throughout the bowling season. In addition, if you are interested you can tour the numerous clubs around the area for some good team competition.

You are not obligated to come on a regular basis as there are no set teams. A random draw is made according to how many people show up. Saturday is great fun -- we usually have a good turnout to play and enjoy special lunch treats on the patio between games.

New members are always welcome so if you do not know a member to introduce you, please call the membership contact listed on the brochure front. Our friendly coaches will teach you how to bowl and explain the rules. All you need to start are flat smooth-soled shoes (no heels) to protect the turf.
