Ongoing Business:

  1. Riverfest – Pig Races are Saturday at 2pm. Parade theme is Welcome to the Jungle with parade Saturday night at 6pm. Crazy Days is Friday. Craig will check if Main Street can be shut down for that. Little Miss Melrose will be Friday night in the park.
  2. Membership Drive-82 members with 9 new ones.
  3. Spring Expo- 24 booths. Kevin’s Auto is sponsoring Zoo to You
  4. Career Fair- May 3rd, 2-5pm is the proposed day.
  5. Paint Party Fundraiser-22 people attended and $198 was raised for the Chamber.
  6. Beautification Flower Pots-Name and logo on pots will be $50 for the first year and $25 for the next years or logo can be skipped.

New Business:

  1. Miss Melrose-Flyers going out next week. Posters will be up in school. Buttons of past royalty are for sale to create awareness. Miss Melrose can be aged 17-20. Sunday, June 25th is coronation. A float is being made for the royalty.
  2. Farmer’s Market-Sara will put something on Facebook to see in anyone wants to run it or knows of a location for it.

Committee Reports:

  1. Economic Development – Mike Creelman –Deferred loan program is still available for commercial business exterior renovations. Apartment complex will start building in Spring. It will be 32 units with underground parking. Jennie-O is looking at the possibility of expanding their facility.
  2. Publicity/ Marketing – Marlene Blommel/ Corey Sand -- Nothing
  3. Agriculture – Joe Fuechtmann -- Nothing
  4. Membership - Vicky Herkenhoff -- Nothing
  5. Education- Stacey Austing-Jacobson – The Prom Committee is selling Dutchmen t-shirts and the school is selling sweatshirts. Mother/son Ball is Friday, Father/daughter Ball is Saturday. Prairie Centre Hockey team is hosting sections in Sauk on Saturday.
  6. Legislative- Mike Brethorst –Mike B. and Mike C. lobbied for the 400 block rebuild at the legislature.

Other Business:

1.There will be a meeting at the end of February for the church to determine restoration.

2.Melrose is down one officer because of Matt McDonald’s deployment so they are working to contract the County Sheriff to run one car.

3.The German students are arriving tonight.

4.Chamber After Hours-May 11th at 5pm, Melrose Bowl

5.Next General Meeting is-March 15th at CMCU-Bitzy’s Kitchen Catering
