Gas Engineer

Responsible to:Team Leader Gas and Plumbing

Responsible For: None

Purpose: To undertake repair, maintenance and installation of gas, plumbing and heating systems in domestic properties.

Main responsibilities:

  1. To undertake heating engineering & plumbing dutiesincluding reactive repairs, servicing of boilers, fires and other appliances, installations and associated works.
  2. To undertake the installation of new domestic heating systems in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, industry best practice codes and practice and legislation.
  3. To issue notices and certificates required by the relevant regulations relating to gas safety.
  4. To attend appointments as scheduled and instructed.
  5. To adhere to manufacturer’s instructions when servicing, repairing or installing appliances.
  6. To provide information to allow records to be updated following service and Testing and issue Landlord Gas Safety record using electronic or manual documentation.
  7. To manage stock from authorised suppliers, materials required to undertake works through the approved order system
  8. To take part in the on call system to provide 24/7 emergency cover across our property portfolio.
  9. To drive company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner and to ensure that the vehicle is maintained to appropriate standards.
  10. To ensure that vehicles operated by the gas and plumbing team are operated in a safe and courteous manner and represent the company in a positive way to our residents and the general public.
  11. To complete all relevant training and certifications as required by regulations.
  12. To maintain regular contact with the Team Leader and colleagues to obtain instructions and resolve working problems.
  13. To record completed works and maintain accurate record of work carried out including measurements and calculations.

FACTORS / CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL/ DESIRABLE
Education; Training and Experience / Relevant qualification / apprenticeship, NVQ level 3, City & Guilds to Construction Regulations 2007 ACoP 1-15 or ACS: CCN1, HTR1, UVHW1, WAT1 & CEN1, CPA1, MET1, CKR1, Part L, WR1 / E
Repair diagnosis and maintenance / servicing of gas heating/plumbing systems, experience as a domestic engineer, dealing with breakdowns, servicing and installations. / E
Experience of TMV servicing and regulations / D
Experience of servicing and maintaining renewable technologies to include heat pumps, solar thermal systems, etc / D
Relevant Health & Safety Qualification / D
Full Driving License / E
Knowledge and Skills / Ability to follow written and verbal instructions / E
Ability to record accurately all works carried out / E
Ability to undertake gas and plumbing works to a consistently high standard and in a high pressure environment / E
Able to participate in the on call rota system / E
Flexible approach to types of work required to undertake / E
Good IT skills / E
