Meeting Minutes from the CSIM TC

May 18th, held at ICC'05

1. Approval of the Minutes from ICC2004

The minutes from the GLOBECOM 2004 CSIM Technical Committee meeting (Dallas, USA) were approved by all participants.

2. TAC report

During TAC meeting attended by Nelson Fonseca several issues were discussedNominations for IEEE fellow, Distinguished Lecturer and ComSoc awards are sought. TC’s should identify and propose names.

Representatives for emerging technologies and standards committee are sought. ComSoc lunched the 1900 standards series.

TC’s should be selective in sponsoring conferences and co-responsible for the technical quality of the conference.

3. Globecom'2005

CSIM is sponsoring the Advances in Internet and Networks Symposium, George Kesidis, co-chair.

4. ICC'2006

CSIM is co-sponsoring the following symposia: “Next Generation Mobile Networks” (co-chair: Pascal Lorenz) and “Communications QoS, Reliability and Performance Modeling” (co-chair: Nelson Fonseca).

5. Globecom'2006

Zhi Ding (TPC chair) requested a contact person from CSIM TC, which will be the current chair. It is possible to nominate someone for the “Emerging Technologies” symposium (formerly known as “General Track”).

CSIM will sponsor the “Quality, Reliability and Performance Modeling for Emerging Network Services” symposium. Co-sponsorship by Communications Software TC will be accepted in case candidate names for TPC will be produced.

6. ICC'2007

ICC'07 will be held in Scotland, CSIM will sponsor a symposium on QoS.

7. CAMAD'2006

Next CAMAD will be held in Trento (Italy). Fabrizio Granelli, appointed General Chair, presented an advancement report on the organization of the workshop.

8. Other initiatives

The committee wishes to express very special thanks to Mike Devetsikiotis, former chair of the committee, for his invaluable work during the past decade, serving the committee in different roles. The reputation and shape of CSIM TC as now is a direct consequence of Mike Devetsikiotis unconditional support to CSIM TC.

CSIM officers will appoint a committee for best paper award, which will be funded with the $500 annual budget.

In order to advertise the activities of the committee, the website will be enhanced by adding links to traces, simulators and other tools, and invitation to next meetings will be sent to previous authors of works presented in symposia sponsored by the CSIM TC as well to those of accepted papers.

The creation of special interest groups on specific topics will be considered.
