Principal’s Report

-Chardon Event:

Our hearts go out to the students/staff.

Had a meeting with district, Det. Harpster, SWAT team.

They went around to schools checking procedures for emergency situation.

We have everything in place that is needed for a lockdown according to the crisis respond team.

The most vulnerable areas are recess, gym, and cafeteria.

Very positive comments about procedures Chardon followed.

We are looking at making a few changes as well as additional signage for front of building.

Distributed dictionaries to 3rd grade students.

-Pancake Breakfast at Riverside HS cafeteria on March 25th from 8:30-1pm. Presale is $5 and $6 at the door.

Committee Report

*BEAR Club (Lisa Simodi): Mrs. Kovatch’s class won for the month of January! March 5th will begin the Captain’s Reading Program, so there will not be the traditional BEAR Club Reading for the month of March.

**Box Tops (Lorene Fogle): No report at this time.

**Labels for Education (Teresa Bowyer): Teresa conveyed to continue sending in the “labels for education”

**Market Day (Margaret & Kennie Bentley): Market day orders are due on March 9th and deliver is on March 14th. Linnea Lucas has agreed to co-chair Market Day. Thank You Linnea!

**Character Campaign (Sam Meunier): The theme for March is “RESPECT”

Unfinished Business

**Parent/Child Events: (Teresa Bowyer) The Father/Daughter event is going to be a Dance at Quail Hollow on 3/11. The Mother/ Son Night will most likely be a bowling event at Scores, unless a great new suggestion comes to fruition.

**Program Committee” Meeting Report: (Belinda Grassi) (Teresa Bowyer reported on)

Suggestions: tax forms correct and validating them for IRS.

Improving communication w/district such as: directories, district calendar on website so that it might eliminate more than 1 activity on the same night.

RLEEF: In the past, teachers would submit educational ideas to RLEEF to qualify for grants and funds. Once approved, teachers would then be awarded a grant to use towards their sustainable idea.

Unfortunately, it has been decided that RLEEF will NOT BE AWARDING GRANTS TO THE TEACHERS ANYMORE! However, they will continue to serve as the holders of money for scholarships.

** At the present time, the PTC will be listening to the suggestions but not committing to the programs committee until there are more groups participating and we feel it is worthwhile for our school.

**Teacher Appreciation Week

Volunteers are needed to coordinate this event. Teacher appreciation runs the week of May 7th.

We have had numerous volunteers to help but are specifically looking for a couple people to run this event.

**Malley’s Candy : ( Lisa Simodi): Candy sale has been extended until March 14th and until April 2nd online. Delivery will be on Monday, March 26, with a pickup on Tuesday, March 27th from 3-5pm

**Chic Fil A : (Teresa Bowyer) Event will be on Thursday, March 29th from 5-7pm.

**Captain’s Reading Program: (Lisa Simodi) will run from March 5th thru April 5th.

**Internet Safety Night: March 26th, 6-7:30 at LaMuth Gym

New Business

**PTC Custom Website Address: ( Mike Pilotti) We voted to try out a custom website which will be linked from our Buckeye PTC website for one year. He will be setting it up on go daddy.com. It will cost $9.99.

**Sheetz Coupon Book Fundraiser: (Danielle Brennan) The coupon book would cost us $6/book and we would sell it for $10. A fundraiser possibly put into place for next year.

Next PTC meeting will be Thursday, April 19th at 7:00pm.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Lisa Simodi
