Whole Class WorkRemind class they are going to make a collection of fire poems at the end of the unit. Discuss the work on the ‘Fire of London’ and show painting on IWB. Say that we are going to and mind-map some ‘fire’ words, thinking about the heat and movement of fire.

Ask children what they see. Blow out flame and watch the smoke rise. Make flame shapes with hands and body. What does this shape remind you of? What colours do you see in the flame?
