Medway Liberation Officer Job Descriptions
Medway BAME (Black and Minority Ethnicities) Students’ Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Self-define as a black and/or minority ethnicity student (refers to students of African, Asian, Arab, and Caribbean descent).
- Represent Medway BAME students’ views and opinions.
- Provide a BAME student’s perspective on all matters concerning the Union and the University at Medway Campus.
- Raise awareness on the issues that affect BAME students through meetings, events and campaigns.
- Co-ordinate activities designed to counter racism, ethnocentrism and/or discrimination. Establish and maintain contact with, and provide information from, groups and organisations which work on BAME and anti-racism issues.
- Work with fellow liberation officers to coordinate work on equal opportunities.
- To provide an end of year report to the incoming officer and Representation and Advice Manager.
General Information:
- The Medway BAME Students’ Officer is not an Officer of the Union accordance with the constitution and Bye Laws, and is not a member of the Executive Body or Student Council.
Medway Disabled Students’ Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Self-define as a Disabled Student.
- Represent Disabled students’ views and opinions.
- Provide a Disabled student’s perspective on all matters concerning the Union and the University at Medway Campus.
- Establish and maintain contact with, and provide information from, groups and organisations which work on Disability issues.
- Work with fellow liberation officers to coordinate work on equal opportunities.
- To provide an end of year report to the incoming officer and Representation and Advice Manager.

- Self-define as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Work to improve the experience of Medway LGBTQ+ Students and help fight discrimination.
- Represent Medway LGBTQ+ Students’ views and opinions.
- Provide a LGBTQ+ perspective on all matters concerning the Union and the University at Medway Campus.
- Establish and maintain contact with, and provide information from, groups and organisations which work on LGBTQ+ issues.
- Work with fellow liberation officers to coordinate work of equal opportunities.
