Facilities

Studios are normally offered on a monthly lease and rent is payable monthly in advance by Direct Debit on a fully-inclusive basis (including rates, buildings insurance, public liability insurance, electricity and maintenance costs.) A refundable deposit equal to one month’s rent is due prior to taking a studio, and tenants are responsible for insuring their own contents.

Studio holders are largely granted unrestricted use of their studio with 24-hour access. All studios are supplied with power points, and have access to a common water supply and other facilities. Specialised requirements can often be accommodated.

Visiting Artists’ Accommodation

Wasps provides studio and residential accommodation in Glasgow, Shetland and Newburgh in Fife. These spaces can be leased on a short-term basis at affordable rents. Please visit Wasps’ website for more information.

Costs

Studio charges vary according to the building in which the studio is located and thereafter according to the floor space leased. Current rental rates (fully inclusive) are between £5.50 and £7.50 per square foot per annum, charged monthly in advance.

This translates to between £80to £120 per month on average. Larger lets (over 600 sq.ft.) are also availableand all enquiries about these facilities should be made directly to the Wasps office.

Material Discounts

Wasps’ artists benefit from discounts on materials purchased from art supply retailers ranging from 15% to 25% dependant upon area. Some discounts are also available on mail order purchases and further negotiated discounts are planned.
