UAMSS / NAMSS Updates / Amanda reported the following UAMSS member have recently received CPSC Certification:

-April Cooke
Both recipients were congratulated and presented with a small gift. / Informational
NAMSS Leadership Conference Report / Amanda presented the information from the 2012 NAMSS Leadership Conference held in San Diego, CA.
State Affiliations
Each affiliated state, including Utah, was presented with a “NAMSS Affiliate” gavel and congratulated.
Call for Nominations
Nominations for NAMSS Committee and Board of Directors volunteer positions open May 1st and close May 31st.
-New this year, only self nominations will be accepted.
NAMSS Education
A new CPCS Study Guide is now available with 160+ pages of reference material to help prepare for the CPCS certification exam.
NAMSS Annual Conference – 2012
The annual conference will be held in San Francisco, California. NAMSS has offered each state booth space on the morning of September 6th, this would include the cost of shipping any materials to the conference site.

Amanda asked those present to contact her if they are interested in purchasing this book, as a discount can be used if several members are interested.
Heidi Thompson has prepared a Utah booth for the annual conference and found it to be productive.
The Board of Directors will review the time/cost of this project to determine if this is feasible.
NAMSS Leadership Conference Report, cont. / Physician Hospital Data Bank
NAMSS has finalized an agreement to provide practitioner information for those in “good standing’. The goal is to provide information to close credentialing gaps.
-Hospitals involved would upload physician information monthly. These hospitals would have access to information uploaded by any facility on the system.
Terms of use have been reviewed and are appropriate as primary source verification for Joint Commission.
2013 Leadership Conference
As President, Kelley Leach will plan to attend the 2013 Leadership Conference in Annapolis, MD.
Beyond the Golden Rule; Dr. Tarane Sondoozi
This educational session addressed communication styles and how to identify an individual’s specific style.
-This session was informative and the speaker very engaging. Session will be considered for the UAMSS Annual conference. / A pilot program will begin mid-May; additional information will be presented when available.

Updated UAMSS Bylaws Review / Recently updated UAMSS bylaws presented for review, changes include:
-Deletion of Associate/Affiliate members
-Addition of Leadership Education allotment
-Addition of CPCS/CPMSM Scholarship
Recommended changes by UAMSS member, both present and by email:
-Addition of membership category to include Medical Staff Professionals who are not currently working in the profession, but still wish to maintain relationships with other MSP’s while in transition.
-Addition of a deadline for membership dues to March 1st
-Change to Article 7 to include a statement that all meetings will include educational content.
-Clarification to proposed Article 14 (Leadership Education) to note funds specifically for the NAMSS Leadership Conference
-Amendment to Article 17.1, the second sentence should read “The duty of the Committee is to plan the Annual Conference and ensure that at least five (5) hours of NAMSS approved continuing education is included.”
-Amendment to proposed Article 19, the first sentence should read “State Associate members wishing to test for CPCS and/or CPMSM through the Certification Commission of NAMSS shall be eligible…”
-Deletion of Article 20 in its entirety / In addition to minor grammatical errors, motion made and seconded by those present to approve the proposed changes discussed.
Proposed changes will be made and the updated document sent to the UAMSS members via email for additional comments.
Revised bylaws will be presented for approval during the UAMSS Annual Conference.
UAMSS Secretary Position / Ms. Melinda Beasly-Northrop is no longer working as a Medical Staff Professional and has resigned her position as UAMSS Secretary.
Nominations requested from those present.
-Michelle Chamberlain would like to be considered for the open position. / Email notification of nominations will be sent to all UAMSS members for additional volunteers.
Vote for new secretary will be sent to all UAMSS members prior to the Annual meeting in August and announced during the annual meeting.
Certification Commission / Heidi Thompson notified those present of “Item Writer” opportunities currently available within the Certification Commission of NAMSS.
-Currently all item writers must be CPCS and CPMSM certification, however, this requirement will change to include those certified in CPCS or CPMSM.
Review of testing structure and creation reviewed, as this has recently been updated. / Additional information will be sent via email to all UAMSS members.
NEXT MEETING / The Annual UAMSS Conference will be held August 10, 2012 from 9am – 4pm
ADJOURNMENT / With no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned by Amanda Meekins at 3: 30 p.m.
