Medical Imaging Services over Cloud
Introduction
Nowadays,medicalimagingisavaluableandindispensabletoolinhealthcaresystems,representingtophysiciansakeyfactorfordeliveringhighqualitydecisions.ThePACS(PictureArchivingandCommunicationSystem)conceptembracesasetoftechnologiesforthearchiving,distribution,visualizationandacquisitionofmedicalimagesoveracomputernetwork[1].Comparedwiththetraditionalanaloguefilm,PACSbringssignificantbenefitsintheproductivity,economyandmanagementofahealthcareinstitution.ItscurrentsuccesswasboostedbytheintroductionoftheDICOMstandard,allowinginteroperabilitybetweensystemsfromdifferentmanufactures.
ThedeploymentofPACShasenabledfasterandbroaderaccesstomedicalimagedata.Themovementfromfilm-based processestodigitalprocesses,alliedtofasterandmorerobustnetworkinfrastructure,reducedthecostsassociatedwiththestorageandmanagementofimages,simplifieddataportability,andhaspavedthewayforthedevelopmentofnewapplicationsandworkingscenarios.
