LH Labs® Introduces Vi DAC Infinity and Vi DAC Tube Infinity:

Two New Milestones in Audiophile Grace and Functionality

LAS VEGAS, NV, January 5, 2016–LH LabsⓇ, a leading US manufacturer of high performance audio products, takes the occasion of 2016 International CES to introduce the new Vi DAC InfinityandVi DAC Tube InfinityDigital-Analog Converters, whose ultra-high performance specs push the boundaries of digital audio.

At the vanguard of the resurgent American designed and manufactured high-end audio movement, Vi DAC Infinity, a CES Innovations Award winner, and Vi DAC Tube Infinity are born and raised in Roseville, California in what can be called “Audio Alley” – the epicenter of sophisticated audio innovation today. And now, the company is taking its ethos directly to retail with these newest innovations.

“LH Labs is evolving from an audiophile purist crowd-funding mode to a more traditional business model that embraces retail and e-commerce partners,” says Founder and CEO Larry Ho. “But that will have zero effect on the soul of the company. Our mission continues to be the creation of breakthroughs that appeal to audio connoisseurs, but accessible to the mass market.”

Vi DAC Infinity(SRP: $4,999) is the flagship digital preamp/DAC/headphone amplifier in the LH Labs 2016 line.A CES Innovations Award-winning DAC of the highest order, the Vi DAC Infinityis capable of decoding any audio track, from MP3 up to full-resolution 32-bit 384khz PCM. It can also natively decode tracks up to DSD 256, placing it among the industry’s most versatile units.

The decoding engine in Vi DAC Infinityis controlled by dual femto clocks, accurate to one-millionth of one-billionth of a second. They keep perfect time, enabling Vi DAC Infinity’s dual ESS Sabre 9018AQ2M microchips to convert digital data into stunningly accurate analog sound.

Vi DAC Infinity’s power circuit features 26 power regulators – including four discrete shunt regulators – making it one of the quietest linear power supplies commercially available at any price.

In terms of design and visual appeal, Vi DAC Infinity is not just another pretty rack space. The LH Labs design team turned away from commonplace rectangular designs to produce a component of true geometric beauty and elegance. A highly reflective surface visually expands its compact form factor, creating a sense of movement that is totally unexpected from home CE. The brushed finish is not static, but gives a sense of interaction with its living environment.

That design intelligence continues on the inside, where there are no parallel walls. This combats standing waves, which can lead to electronic noise. Vi DAC Infinity eliminates this entirely.

Technical highlights of Vi DAC Infinity at a glance:

  • Completely dual mono design, featuring two ESS9018AQ2M DACs, one for each channel
  • PCM: up to and including 32/384kHz
  • DSD: Up to and including DSD256
  • Extremely low-noise power supply based on LPS4 physically separated from audio circuitry
  • 3 Digital Filters: TCM, FRM, and SSM (Time Coherence Mode, Frequency Response Mode and Stable Streaming Mode)
  • Dual-mono Class A Analog preamplifier circuitry
  • Truly Balanced XLR Analog output (RCA outputs derived from balanced signal)
  • Balanced headphone amplifier, 4-pin XLR and 1/4” unbalanced outputs
  • Precision analog attenuator for headphone outputs
  • 64-bit digital volume control, .5 dB steps (completely out of circuit at 0.0 dB)
  • Dual Femto clocks, one for 44/1 kHz family, 1 for 48 kHz family- an entire order of magnitude more accurate than standard oscillators
  • 2 Coaxial, 1 AES/EBU, 1 TOSlink, 1 USB input
  • Top chassis is machined from a solid block of aluminum.
  • Non-parallel cabinet surfaces eliminate any mechanical resonances
  • Includes Wireless remote (volume, source selection, filter mode)

Vi DAC Tube Infinity Infinity

With all of the acumen and nuance of Vi DAC Infinity, Vi DAC Tube Infinity(SRP: $6,999) is configured with a completely parallel set of vacuum tube buffered unbalanced outputs. After the Class A analog buffer stage, the signal is fed to three outputs:

  • Headphone Outputs via TI TPA6102A2 (one per channel, fully balanced)
  • XLR Line outputs via TI LME49990 extremely wide bandwidth Op Amps (Class A, 2 per channel)
  • Vacuum Tube Output-unbalanced, one 6922 dual triode per channel

This design offers the best of both the solid-state and tube worlds. Vi DAC Tube Infinity can be used as a fully functional stereo digital preamp with fully balanced line outputs, headphone amplifier outputs, and unbalanced tube line outputs. Audio output options multiply with this configuration, allowing for both solid-state analog output stage that is musical and precise, as well as a hybrid solid-state/tube output buffer with the warmth and liquid feel that tubes produce.

CES attendees can visit LH Labs in their demonstration suite in the Venetian Towers, 35 Floor, Suite 110.
