We are looking for a dedicated team player to beMedical Doctorin the TSAPCG Project. He will be part of a team of 65 national staff and 7expatriates providing primary health care through Mobile Clinics to the population in the border areas of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

The successful candidate will work in the Mobile Clinic and in the office in Bhadrachalam under the supervision of theProject Medical Referent and DoctorExpatriate.

Main purpose of the post

  • Together with the team establish the Mobile Clinic primary health care program and referral systemin Chhattisgarh/Andhra Pradesh/Telangana
  • Involve in monitoring of the medical activities; suggest the needs in drugs, diagnostics and report communicable diseases to authorities
  • Participate in capacity building of medical staff
  • Provide quality medical care to all Nat staff in following the MSF protocols

Medical Care

  • Provide quality basic medical care, diagnosis and treatment, in MSF primary health care Mobile Clinics according to MSF clinical guidelines, including universal precautions
  • Identify and facilitate proper referral of complicated cases and perform follow ups of patients along with Referral Doctor and in collaboration with Expat Supervisor
  • Support the referral nurses in quality follow-up and decision making of referral patients
  • Participate in monitoring of the medical activities; ensure the rational use of medicines and inform Medical Supervisor of any irregularity in drug supply or damaged materials, suggest the needs in drugs or material
  • Participate to ensure the overall good clinic management including patient flow, triage, infection control measures, waste management etc. Identify problems immediately and initiate improvements if needed with other departments (logistics)
  • Carry out medical activities according to weekly planning done by the team
  • In collaboration with Expat Supervisor keep medical protocols updated

Data, reporting and capacity building

  • Organize case discussions in the doctors meetings
  • Participate in clinical supervision coaching and evaluation of staff as a technical referent in collaboration with Expat Supervisor
  • Ensure good networking and collaboration with other partners; in charge of updating contact list for referral facilities
  • Participate in meetings
  • Ensure proper data collection
  • Reporting and sharing info about noticeable or important morbidity to Expat Supervisor and Project Medical Referent

Other activities

  • Assist in other parts of program if needed
  • Flexibility to carry out other medical tasks
  • Respect local culture and issues related to health seeking behaviour
  • Participate in assessments and other MSF activities
  • Participate in EPREP planning (response to medical emergencies)
  • Respect MSF security guidelines and internal regulations

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • MBBS degree with full & valid registration from Medical Council of India or state medical councils
  • Desirable specialization or training in tropical medicine and/or infectious disease (especially TB)

Work experience

  • Preferably at least 1 year of work experience as a medical practitioner
  • Experience in minor surgical , obstetric & pediatrics is an advantage

Specific skills

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload & take initiative when appropriate
  • Good spoken & written English
  • Good spoken & written Telugu
  • Useful to have good understanding of local language : Koya and Gotti Koya
  • Able to integrate into a multi-cultural team and cooperate with co-workers
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to cope with stress
  • Willingness work in a rural setting
  • Demonstrate flexibility in taking up tasks outside of regular job responsibilities as required
  • Good punctuality and ability to act with responsibility
  • Understanding of MS Office especially Word, Excel & Power Point
