Fixed Term - Maternity leave cover contract - 12 months.

Ideally to start early April.

SalaryNJC point 31 - 33 (£26,539 - 28,127 pa)

Job Purpose

To provide day to day management of the Me2 Clubwhich enables children and young people with additional needs, aged between 5 and 19, to integrate into mainstream activities of their choice in and around the Wokingham area.

To deliver an Inclusion Training programme to volunteers and mainstream activity leaders, including workshops on a range of topics, and 1-1 advice and guidance, to increase skills, knowledge and confidence in the inclusion of children with additional needs.

To provide leadership and support on residential overnight trips for young people with additional needs and their volunteers (3 per year, usually at weekends).

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for operations and people management of the Charity.
  2. Assess and support children and young people with additional needs to use the Me2 Club service.
  3. Develop and deliver comprehensive induction and development training for all volunteers.
  4. Support and supervise a team of volunteers working with children with additional needs.
  5. Match children with additional needs, with suitable volunteers to provide support at regular mainstream activities.
  6. Deliver inclusion training programme for activity leaders, including open and bespoke workshops and consultation.
  7. Manage and lead residential overnight trips for children with additional needs and volunteers.
  8. Manage and support Me2 Club staff, including coaching, guidance and working towards objectives.
  9. Work with the Me2 Club Treasurer to implement accurate and up to date financial management procedures.
  10. Ensure Me2 Club is working to best practice in all areas and maintains a positive reputation.
  11. Promote the Me2 Club: liaising with Media, networking etc.
  12. Maintain accurate and up to date records to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation.
  13. Liaise with the Me2 Club management committee and provide a staff link with trustees.
  14. To be involved in other activities associated with the Me2 Club which may arise from time to time.

Required Knowledge/Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of a wide range of additional needs - Essential
  • Excellent understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorders – Essential
  • Good understanding of Challenging Behaviours and reasons children may display these - Essential
  • Knowledge of strategies and approaches to include children with disabilities, ASD and behaviour difficulties in mainstream settings - Essential
  • Knowledge of people and project management approaches - Essential
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities - Essential
  • Understanding of additional challenges facing children with additional needs when on residential trips - Desirable
  • Educated to degree level – Desirable

  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including using databases
  • Able to use Adobe desktop publishing and media software (Desirable)
  • Comfortable using texts, emails, and social media as major forms of communication with volunteers
  • Ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly, self motivate and manage own workload

Additional Requirements
