PRINCIPAL’S REPORT (Dan Minelli)

  • Freshman Welcome and Follow Your Daughter’s Schedule were both well attended events.
  • We have been in discussion about how to merge the two clubs at Mercy and McAuley (Mom and Dad’s Club). Of most importance is establishing a foundation of adults who will support the young women coming here next year.
  • Transition Meeting Committee Update: Multiple committees meet every week to move everything ahead. There is a lot of work to do.Two open houses are planned for Sunday, October15th and November 12th. The reasoning behind that is we have something extraordinary from both schools and a personal touch from each school will be presented and give families two options of dates to attend. One of the most important things is word of mouth and it makes a huge difference when promoting our new school.Positive conversations wherever you go willhelp promote the new Mercy/McAuley High School. This is something we all can do.875 students isthe joint enrollment. We will be left with 635 after graduation. The vast majority of those students are going to come here along with recruiting Class of 2022.
  • Since the beginning of the school year Mr. Minelli has been meeting with each class level and reflecting on a particular piece of scripture.
  • The challenge we are facing right now is that Marie Schweikert has decided to leave and seek other work. This is a void since the Open Houses are coming up soon.

ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL’S REPORT (Connie Kampschmidt)

  • Thank you for the gift of your daughters. They come in as little girls and leave as young ladies. The four years go so quickly. It is not easy being a parent. Those babies are gifts from God. Appreciate every moment.
  • September 7th is College Information Night. There will be focus on financial aid and careers.
  • September 15th no school. This will be a professional development day together with Mercy.
  • September 24th is Mercy Day. The day when Catherine McAuley opened up her House of Mercy. Our big celebration will be held on Friday, September 22nd. A wonderful mass, reception, grill out, activities, and no classes. We are celebrating having a Mercy education. Say Happy Mercy Day to your daughter! Say it twice….once on Friday and once on Sunday!
  • The students took tests in English and Math. These tests are to show where gaps may be for some young ladies. (Map Testing) Will take again in January and then again in the spring.
  • Over the summer the faculty sat together from both schools to come up with the curriculum for the best offering available to our students. It is really exciting that we are part of building a new school from the ground up.
