Mayr power transmission continuesits expansion strategy
Company expansion as long-term factor forstability
Mayr power transmission continues to grow and increase its capacities at all locations. In addition to the high investments made in the headquarters in Mauerstetten, the specialist for clutches, couplings and brakes also opened an additional production hall in Polandin June. With regard to technology, the company is also setting new standards with its intelligent control module innovations for safety brakes, for sensorless condition monitoring and braking torque control.
The traditional, family-run company Mayr power transmission is expanding and extending the company headquarters atMauerstetten in the Allgäu region. The third floor, which has been added to the administration building, was already finished by the beginning of 2015. Within the course of this year, construction work on the new communications centre will also begin; in future, this communications centre will be used for welcoming visitors, for presenting products and for holding meetings, training courses and special events. The extension of the manufacturing and warehouse areas will also soon be underway. “The high investments made guarantee the stability and long-term location security in the Allgäu region, where the company has been firmly rooted since its foundation in 1897”, explains Günther Klingler, the Managing Director.
Internationalcourse of expansion
Apart from the work on the Mauerstetten location, Mayr power transmission is currently also extending its locations in China andPoland. In June 2015, the company opened up a new, 6000 m2large production hall at the Mayr Polandplant in Ostrzeszow. “The new hall creates jobs and guarantees that we can also work successfully in the future”,Günther Klingler explains. “Mayr Poland – as a large production location currently employing approximately 260 staff – isan important guarantee for future development and for the success of the entire Mayr group”.Because of the plant in Poland, Mayr power transmission is not only able to maintain jobs in Mauerstetten, but also to build up and expand its capacities, especially in the area of key technologies. For 2015, the company expects growth figures considerably higher than the branch average.
Promoting innovations
With regard to technology, too, Mayr power transmission is setting new standards, facing the current challenges of the Industry 4.0. The company’s product portfolio already features intelligent productswhich can communicate with the superordinate controls. One of the most recent developments is the intelligent brake control module ROBA®-brake-checker, which is not only capable of energising safety brakes, but can also monitor them without a sensor. It recognises the switching condition of the actuator as well as the wear condition. This means that safety-critical conditions are detected before they take effect. The braking torque control module ROBA®-torqcontrolfeatures the same characteristics and can also change the braking torque level during operation by influencing the current and the voltage in a targeted manner. In this way, devices and machines can be decelerated evenly and gently. The ROBA®-torqcontrolprovides the possibility to set up control loops and to brake movements intelligently – idealprerequisites for use in smart, interconnected machines.
