BUE Research Awards Event

Under the auspices of Mr. Mohamed FaridKhamis, Chairman of BUE Board of Trustees, the British University in Egypt celebrated on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 winners of the research awards. Prof. Yehia Bahei-El-Din, Vice President for Research and Postgraduate Studies inaugurated theevent outlining the various research incentives offered to BUE staff to stimulate research and promote BUE academic standing. BUE President Prof. Ahmed Hamaddelivered a speech on the achievements of the university and the strategic objectives that the University is adopting to improve the quality of its research.

Mr. Mohamed FaridKhamis gave a speech about the importance of higher education and research and expressed his full support to advance research at BUE and in Egypt.

The university offers 28 awards annually for excellence in scientific research for academic staff and teaching assistants to cover the university three main sectors in Engineering, Basic Science, and Computer Science, Health Science, and Arts, Humanities and Social Science at atotal of EGP 360,000, in addition to an Award Certificate BUE plaque. This year, fifteen academic staff and teaching assistants received the awards.

The top two awards, Principle Researcher Award and Early Career Research Awardare offered to academic staff with a distinguished research career, a record of postgraduate supervision and research grants. The2016 Principle Researcher Awardwent to Dr. Mamdouh Gadalla in Chemical Engineering, Prof. Gamal Nashed in the Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP), Dr. ShereenHaseeb inFaculty of Pharmacy. The Early Career Research Award went to Dr. Mostafa Shazly in Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Elsayed Salama in Basic Sciences.

The third award, High Impact Researcher Award is offered to academic staff for publishing their papers in international referred journals and was awarded to Dr. Adel Awad, CTP and Dr. Islam Mohamed in Chemical Engineering. The fourth award,Best Publication Award is offered to academic staff and teaching assistants for publishing a single paper in an internationally referred journalwith a high impact factor. This year’s award went to Dr. Amr El Zantand Dr. Waleed El Hanafy, CTP, Dr. George Shokry Amin Fam in Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Hany AyadBastawrous in Electrical Engineering, Dr. Bassam ShafickAyoub and Dr. Abdullah Gibriel in Faculty of Pharmacy and Assistant Lecturer Yasmine Mohamed Abdelfattahin the Economics Department.This is in addition to the Best Postgraduate Thesis Award, which isdedicated to the best Ph.D. thesis and was won by Dr. Yasmin Attia in Faculty of Pharmacy.
