May Mid-Range F-Class/Prone Match- Palo Alto

43 Shooters came out on a beautiful Saturday to shoot the May match. We had several first-timers and a couple walked away with a medal or money. We thank all those who drive the distance to shoot with us. We hope you had a good time and will come back.

I know we say each month the winds did this or they did that and this match was no exception. We never know what to expect either. They started out relatively calm and went from calm to quartering/twitchy to blowing back to twitchy to almost calm in the same string

The Prone folks had 10 folks on the line. Warren Freeman, once again walked away with the Gold Medal posting a 594-33X. Warren also shot a 200-16X on his first string. Only a couple of shots back, Bill Jenkins to 1 High Master with a 592-28X. Buck Kliebert was 1st Master with a 591-20X and Dwayne Vidrine took 1 Expert/Marksman with a 572-9X.

The Open folks had 26 shooters and some excitement when Jim Suber tied the National Record and Range Record of 200-19X in the 3rd string of the day. But, being only an Approved match, he’ll only get to brag about the tie. That was some great shooting in some challenging conditions. Congrats, Jim.

Jim also took the Gold Medal with a 597-40X. Jerry Boudreaux only 1 shot back took 1st High Master with a 596-25X. Jerry also shot a 200-11X on his first string. William Wittman was 2nd High Master with a 595-43X. William had a 200-18X on his second string.

Also shooting a 200 was David McLain with a 200-14X on his first string.

First time shooter Bubba Nicholson was 1st Master/Master Unclassified/Expert/Marksman with a 593-33X. Ryan Gleason, another first time shooter, took 2nd with a 591-29X.

FTR numbers were down with 8 shooters, but they did not lack some excitement, too. Brand new High Master Glen Padgett took the Gold Medal with a fantastic 597-33X. That is only 7 X’s behind Jim Suber’s Open score! He also shot a 200-11X on his first string.

1st High Master was Alton Britt with a 592-21X. Brad Mitchell was 1st Master/Expert with a 590-18X.
