Vacancy for Post of Technical Executive

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment as Technical Executive at the Mauritius Film Development Corporation, a parastatal body falling under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture.
II. / AGE LIMIT
Candidates, unless already in the Service, should not have reached their 40th birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.
III. / QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should:
A. / A Cambridge Higher School Certificate or Passes in at least two subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Advanced Level”.
B. / A degree in Audio Visual Studies from a recognised institution
OR
Equivalent qualifications to A and B above acceptable to the Board.
C. / Candidates should –
(i) reckon at least three years’ experience in Audio Visual Production; and
(ii) be computer literate.
Note
Qualification at A above should have been obtained prior to qualification at B above. However, candidates who, as at 30 June 2003, did not possess the qualification at A above will also be considered provided they hold –
(a) / a Cambridge School Certificate or passes obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Ordinary Level” either (i) in five subjects including English Language with at least Grade C in any two subjects or (ii) in six subjects including English Language with at least Grade C in any one subject or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board; and
(b) / a Master’s Degree or a postgraduate diploma from a recognised institution in the field at B above or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
Qualification at (a) under ‘Note’ should have been obtained prior to qualification at B above and at (b) under ‘Note’.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.

III. / DUTIES
1. / To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Training Centre of the Mauritius Film Development Corporation.
2. / To coordinate the training programmes of the Corporation and work closely with freelance trainers and deliver, where possible, courses related to the film industry.
3. / To conceive, direct and produce films/audiovisual projects.
4. / To transform scripts into audiovisual programme.
5. / To ensure that appropriate measures are put in place to generate revenues.
6. / To ensure that technical performance objectives set out in the Performance Based Budget are met and to report on shortcomings/weakness, if any.
7. / To coordinate editing, sound dubbing and post production tasks.
8. / To perform camera work (motion and still) for films and other audiovisual materials and ensure lighting of sets to that effect.
9. / To work on assembly of films.
10. / To provide technical assistance to foreign film crews shooting in Mauritius.
11. / To be responsible for the maintenance of an archive and a film library.
12. / To supervise and monitor the work of subordinate staff.
13. / To ensure that the Corporation’s audio visual equipment are properly maintained.
14. / To prepare and submit reports on a monthly basis.
15. / To work in collaboration with the Marketing Department as regards projects and programmes.
16. / To use ICT in the performance of his duties.
17. / To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Technical Executive in the roles ascribed to him.
Note
The Technical Executive may be required to work at odd hours and/or during weekends.

V. / SALARY
The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in the scale Rs 25525 x 775 – 32500 x 925 – 37125 x 1225 – 40800 x 1525 – 49950 x 1625 – 56450 plus salary compensation at approved rate.
