Spring Break Homework – 2013

PERIOD 1 & 5

In addition to the above assignments the following must be completed by April 4, 2013, regarding the science fair project. A through D 1-3 (Only steps that are underlined must be completed by April 4).

The scientific steps must be followed. Steps include:

A. A statement of the problem (Big Idea & Unanswered Question): State the Problem/Situation.

B. Collect research from at least four resources, some of which must be print and electronic resources. (Details)

1.Write research on 4 X 6 index cards for each entry.

2.On the back side record the resource information … author, title of book, etc. page #s.

3.Use info on index cards to write research report.

4.Need to have 5 pages of research on your topic.

C. Form a hypothesis (Educated Guess; make a prediction as to what you think [based on research] will happen for both the control and experimental group.)

D. Perform an experiment to test the hypothesis

1. State the purpose of the experiment.

2. List & collect equipment and materials to be used in the experiment.

3. List & perform procedures for the experiment. Construct scale models, maps, & appropriate diagrams.

4. Construct data tables & record data from observations that occurred in the experiment onto data tables.

5. Create & communicate the results from the experiment onto graphs to show possible trends, etc.

6. Analyze results and communicate results to others. Explain the outcomes of the results.

E. Form conclusions. Report the logical connection among:

1.Hypotheses

2.Science concepts

3.Tests conducted

4.Data collected

5.Conclusions drawn from the scientific evidence.

F. Bibliography: Site all information.
