Dear candidate
Maths Teacher MPS – Maternity Cover
Thank you for the interest you have shown in this position. I hope you will find the following information useful.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic mathematician to join our forward thinking and very successful department.
All pupils at Saint Benedict School follow a mastery curriculum in Year 7 and 8, deepening their grasp of number and algebra, whilst also developing their problem solving skills. Years 9 to 11 focus on covering the GCSE curriculum, including consolidation and skills enhancement towards examination at the end of Year 11. A Further Mathematics GCSE equivalent is also available to our most able Year 11 pupils. They can then opt to continue onto AS or A level by studying Mechanics or Statistics, or Further Mathematics at Key Stage 5.
Maths is a very successful subject at all levels and students have a real desire to progress. The department has 8 specialised rooms, 6 with interactive whiteboards, and a small annex full of resources. There are 13 members of teaching staff who form a thriving team where everyone feels valued and supported. We have a strong focus on developing teaching and learning and dedicate department time to sharing best practice. As a member of the team, you would be expected to take an active role in departmental development as we embrace the new curriculum.
Saint Benedict is a very popular, friendly and caring school providing not only a quality service but also a caring, supportive and family environment for our students in accordance with the mission statement. We also aim to provide an excellent range of in service training opportunities. We welcome applications from experienced or newly qualified teachers. The ability to teach Further Mathematics at AS and A level would be desirable though not essential.
If you feel you could be a partner in our continuing success, and that we can contribute to your own development, please submit an application along with a covering letter outlining your relevant experience, qualifications and suitability for the job.
If you would like an informal chat or a visit please contact me at the school. Our school prospectus, application form and further details of the post can be found on our website Or email (01332 554295). Please return your applications to Mrs. Charlie Chamberlain, HR Assistant.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely
Claire Goggin- Director of Learning for Mathematics
