2009 Gingerbread Man Mini Meet
By: Janet Dino
Swim, swim as fast as you can, “you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man.” Yes, the 8 & under swimmers made their annual trip to Ridgewood YMCA for the Gingerbread Mini Meet. Rumor has it Coach Carolyn made it to the Y at 6:15 a.m. to get a jump on finding the gingerbread man. He was actually sited several times. Eighteen swimmers participated in the events with fantastic results. All of the practices and hard work paid off. Fifteen swimmers posted at least one best time and seven went three for three!

71Sharks stepped out of the pool on December 6th for our Holiday Team-Building event, this year at Boonton Lanes. Our swimmers - and some parents too! - had a great afternoon socializing with their teammates and enjoying pizza, cake and cookies.WMY Sharks and their families also generously donated overfive hugeboxes filled with food to a local food bank. This was a great effort that was very much appreciated bylocal families who found it difficult during this past holiday season. Thanks to all who participated!

The Big Chill
By: Debbie Kleinsorgen
Again this year, it was chilly and snowy on the day of the Big Chill. Even though, the 500 free events were cancelled on Saturday night, and the morning session had a 3 hour delay, 107 WMY swimmers braved the cold weather and swam at the Lakeland Hills YMCA. 83 of our swimmers had at least one best time. Tales of being snowbound, especially for our morning sessions swimmers, were prevalent, but thankfully everyone arrived safely.
