MATH 7 INFORMATION SHEET MRS. LAZARUK 2016-2017

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME GUIDELINES TO HELP YOU BE

SUCCESSFUL IN OUR MATH CLASS.

PLEASE INSERT THIS SHEET INTO YOUR MATH NOTEBOOK.

I. DAILY MATH SUPPLIES - You must bring to class each day:

  1. Math notebook – A separate 2 inch binder. This math notebook must be used only for math anddivided(with tabbed dividers) into 4 sections: 1) ClassWork (Notes), 2) Homework, 3) Tests and Quizzes, 4) Common Core / PARCC
  2. Covered textbook – textbook must be covered at all times.
  3. Pencils with erasers – Only pencil must be used for math notes, homework, quizzes and tests.

D. Red, blue or other colored pen (not black) – used to correct homework.

  1. Highlighter– used to highlight the date and daily objective in class notes.
  1. 4 pack of fine tip dry eraser markers–used with individual white boards.
  2. Scientific Calculator – (Recommended calculators: TI-34 Multiviewor TI-34 II or TI-30X IIS).

H. Student Planner– used to record homework assignments.

II.DAILY PROCEDURE

  1. Arrive on time with all supplies - binder, covered textbook, pencils, colored pen, highlighter, markers, calculator and previous night’s HW.
  2. Get seated and organized.
  3. Copy the homework assignment into your planner.
  4. Write the entiredate on the next clean page in your math binder (or skip a few lines after the previous day’s notes) and copy the daily objectivefrom the side board. Highlight it. Look at theDo Now Problemson the front board, copy them, including the page numbers and/or diagrams,and begin working on them.
  5. All notes that are written on the board should be copied in the ClassWork section of your binder. All worksheets, returned homework assignments,tests and quizzesmust also be saved and inserted into your binder.

III.HOMEWORK

  1. Homework must be completed everyday and all work must be shown.
  2. Homework will consist of textbook problems, worksheets, common core/PARCC materials, Study Island, or other assignments.
  3. Late or incomplete homework will get a lower grade.
  4. Homework and classwork missed due to absence must be made up within 2 days. Check Mrs. Lazaruk’swebsite to find out what you missed. You can also e-mail me for the worksheets. The assignments and worksheets you missed will also be placed into the folder for your class on my desk.
  5. Homework will be checked every day and graded often, so you are expected to do the best job that you can at all times.
  6. If homework is not handed in on time, an e-mail or phone call will be sent.

IV.ASSESSMENTS

  1. Quizzes and Tests – will be announced a few days in advance.
  2. All tests and quizzes must be signed within 2 days – Parent’s signature will count for homework credit.
  3. Group Projects will be assigned each marking period.
  4. WAC assignments may be given each marking period.
  5. Notebook checksmay be done randomly for extra credit.

V.GENERAL DISCIPLINE

  1. You are expected to be in your seats and working when the bell rings.
  2. Do not call out. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized.
  3. Be respectful of your teacher and your classmates.
  4. No gum, candy or food is allowed in class.
  5. When the bell rings, remain in your seats until you are dismissed.

VI.GRADING SYSTEM

  1. IMS Grading Policy will be followed: Major Assessments will count for 1/3 of the grade and Minor Assessments will count for 2/3 of the grade.

  1. Extra credit work will be provided throughout the school year.

VII.EXTRA HELP

  1. Extra help will be provided after school Monday through Thursday.
  2. If you cannot make it, please see me about a special appointment.
