Course Details

Description: Topics include linear, quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic equations and inequalities and their graphs, polynomial and rational functions.

Prerequisites: MTH 099 or Math ACT 19 or above

Objectives: This course is designed to:

-  Prepare you for the mathematics that you will encounter in other college courses and throughout your life.

-  Help to develop your ability to model functional behavior graphically.

-  Provide the framework for later education in calculus or business math.

Course Grade Percentage System (proportion of final grade):

Homework: 20%

Participation/Attendance: 20%

Tests: 10% each (40% total)

Final Exam: 20%

Homework will be scored by percentage, and their averages over the semester will be taken to determine the final, respective percentage value.

If you have to miss any of the exams, please let me know at least a week ahead of time or bring a university-excused absence to me and test make-up arrangements will be made.

Grade System (percentage values):

A = 89.5-100

B = 79.5-89.49

C = 69.5-79.49

D = 59.5-69.49

F = Anything Lower
Homework:

Homework will be given at the end of most sections of the book that we cover. Homework will be due on the Monday following its assignment. It becomes late the second Monday following its assignment, but may still be turned in for partial credit.

I understand that life happens and emergencies may arise. If you are waiting on something important, please sit near the door so that you may walk out in case you need to answer a call. Otherwise, avoid disrupting other students’ class time when possible.
