Masters for Compilation of Previsit Ratings

NCATE 2008 Standards

The purpose of these masters is to summarize BOE team members’ previsit ratings of the conceptual framework and standards elements. Each team member should share his/her ratings from the “Planning Instrument for NCATE Standards,” using the following codes for the

Conceptual Framework

The codes for the elements of the conceptual framework are:

3 = very thoroughly

2 = adequately

1= in limited ways

0=not at all

Standards

The codes for the elements of the standards are:

3 = Target

2 = Acceptable

1 = Unacceptable

0 = Data are not available for making an initial judgment

Team members’ previsit ratings should be shared in an early team meeting during the on-site visit. Team chairs may copy this form onto overhead transparencies so that team members can record their ratings and all team members can see the ratings of other team members. The ratings can also be recorded on newsprint or on printed or electronic copies of these masters.

The previsit ratings should highlight areas of agreement and disagreement among team members about how well the unit has addressed the conceptual framework and standards in the institutional report and exhibits that have already been reviewed. The ensuing discussion should focus the team’s discussion on the standards and the additional data that should be sought during the on-site visit.
