Professional andRelated Experiences

Accelerator Engineer, OhioUniversity Accelerator Laboratory. 12/00 – Present. Responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the research equipment and supporting infrastructure in the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory including: a high intensity 4.5 MV Van de Graaff accelerator, its ion sources, beam optics and the scattering chambers on the 6 beam lines; high vacuum and ultrahigh vacuum thin film deposition systems; a Kratos XPS/SAM system. Train users, both internal and external, in the safe and efficient use of the facilities. Work with department machine shop for design and fabrication of unique hardware components. Implemented OSHA Confined Space Standards for accelerator maintenance entry.

Int'l Space Station Operations Planner, United Space Alliance, JSC. 5/99 – 12/00. Integration of systems, resources, and constraints to choreograph successful missions. NASA certified flight controller – OCA Officer. Responsible for remote (via satellite link) maintenance and administration of on board NT LAN. Establish new development direction and requirements, acceptance testing, user training, and procedure development for Onboard Short Term Plan Viewer (OSTPV) application. Liaison between planning group and network/hardware engineering group. Assist in planning of daily activities aboard ISS.

Research Assistant, OhioUniversity Accelerator Laboratory. 1994-1999. Design and conduct experiments involving sub-atomic particles. Responsible for facility radiation safety while operating the accelerator. Assemble, install, and calibrate detectors and electronics components as required by experimental parameters. Job requires detailed record keeping, extensive programming to conduct data analysis, plumbing and leak checking of high vacuum systems.
