PARISH COMMUNICATION

In addition to our parish website (http://www.sttheresechurch.info/) the weekly bulletin is the primary weekly medium for informing the parish about current and upcoming events. Financial statistical information, the daily Mass schedule as well as ministry news are regular features in the bulletin. This past summer and option was explored at the request of your parish council to add additional items to the bulletin such as “news from the pews”, items of interest YOU share with our parish staff. The intention was to gather news about what’s going on in your life and other items of personal interest about parishioners. Examples might be: those moving into or out of area; graduations and promotions; personal accomplishments and recognitions, etc. The additional items would be part of an expanded bulletin format.

The solicitation of “personal” newsworthy items was attempted throughout this past summer by way of a box in the commons to collect submissions for upcoming bulletins. Regrettably, the response was extremely low. This attempt will be made once again throughout the Fall months. The level of response will indicate whether or not it is feasible to move ahead with the expansion of the parish bulletin. Your input and assistance on how to better communicate as a parish through various media is always welcome.

WITH APPRECIATION…

Thank you for your contributions to the Annual Diocesan Appeal. We are in receipt of a check for $331.80 for our parish share from donations through 9/30/2017. As announced in Fr. Jim’s April letter to the parish, these monies will be used to enhance our church building and landscape lighting and signage. The total amount received is about 19% of the estimated cost of materials. Best wishes for God’s continued blessings on us all!

OFFERTORY ENVELOPE UPDATE

We have just received word from the Diocese that the Catholic Campaign for Human Development second collection has been suspended. Unfortunately, your 2017 envelopes will have a red lined special collection envelope in it. Please disregard it. We remain eternally grateful for your generous gifts!

THE BIBLE TIMELINE STUDY AND RCIA

All are welcome! Please join us next Saturday, November 4th, from 2:30 to 4:30 in the social hall to discuss the Patriarchs of our faith: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We will also learn how our ancestors, the Hebrews, ended up in Egypt to escape severe drought, through the intercession of Jacob’s son, Joseph. This sets the stage for the eventual 400 year enslavement of God’s chosen people in Egypt until Moses is raised up to free them and lead them to the Promised Land.

2017 VETERANS BRUNCH

This year’s brunch will be on 12 November after the 10:30 Mass. As in previous years, we plan to present a slide show with pictures of our Parish Veterans. We have received some new pictures depicting parishioners and family members in uniform but more are very much desired! Please email your pictures to now. If you have actual photos that you would like scanned for the slide show please contact Jim Gierlak at 832-8595. Keep reading upcoming church bulletins for more information on the brunch

ST. THERESE ALL SOUL’S DAY REMEMBRANCE

CHRISTMAS CARD SALES

The Knights of Columbus are conducting their annual Christmas card sales before and after Masses now through the weekend of December 2 and 3. As always, the theme is “Keep CHRIST in CHRISTmas”. Proceeds go towards helping a seminarian while he is in the seminary. Please help by sending beautiful spiritual messages.
