4-H Project Record Instructions:
The 4-H project record is for this year only (Sept. 1 – Aug. 31). Do not include information from other years. A 4-H project is an area of interest or a topic such as horse, clothing, photography, community service, robotics, etc. Information about multiple animals of the same species can be summarized on one project record. You may turn in up to five project records each year; if you complete 5 one must be community service and one must be leadership.
In section one you will present your goals for the year and the steps you will take to accomplish them. It is important that you write your goals at the beginning of the year and work in a deliberate manner to accomplish them. Select goals that will challenge you! If you do not accomplish all of your goals, you have not failed. In section three, discuss how and why you were or were not able to accomplish specific goals.
Section two is a project summary by month. List all activities that are related to this particular project. You need to keep track of how many hours per month you spend working on this project and report that. Describe the activities and work related to your project each month. We expect that during some months there will be more activity than other months.
In section three describe the knowledge and skills you have learned in this project using bullet statements; brief statements that are not full sentences. Be as specific and detailed as possible. Complete the checklist as outlined in section four.
To receive credit for your records you must turn in a complete record packet. This includes:
- A Summary Record
- 1-5 project records
- a 4-H story
- We recommend that you include supplementary materials (maximum of 5 single sided sheets) to help tell your story that can include pictures, newspaper articlesand other items
